Just looked at the November forecast for temps...warmest high predicted was 41....all days below freezing at night...with many nights in the single digits. That being said, what's your prediction for first fishable ice? Thinking Thanksgiving weekend on the smaller bodies of water.

Sawyer,
November 16th. I only remember one winter in my life I wasn’t on the ice thanksgiving weekend. And by on the ice I mean 3-4 walkable inches on Audubon.

I’m with guy. And I hate to say it because I’m spending a weekend in a tent in under 8 days.

Of course since i have a buck tag this year it will be an early ice. If this wind keeps up though we may never get ice.

I hate to say it, but I believe I think I'll be able to spear gators the end of rifle season with the flip-over. It was 14 degrees this morning and has been in the low teens every morning this week, but one. Not many sloughs NOT froze over and this includes the big water roost type stuff as well. Waterfowlers better get it while the gettin's good. I think it's going to be over here in the next two weeks.

Looking like end of rifle season may signal the beginning of ice fishing around here. Have had a few days of teens overnight with very little sun during the day and not much over 30. The wind and these cold temps should have the water stirred up good so if we do get a stretch of cold and little to no wind ice will be made.

It's about all I have to look forward too with no deer tag. Bring on the freeze, please :)

there will be pics of yahoos on small bays/sloughs in Devils area in 10 days - maybe even a week. The Devils Lake forecast looks downright brisk

I guess everyone's definition of "fishable" ice is different tho too!

people on the ice fishing through holes in the ice clearly defines fishable ice - wise or not
