You are pulling my leg (lying).
It has been a law for years. I checked with my friend who is a retired state DNR game warden. This is from him:

illegal to use or possess shotgun slugs while waterfowl hunting. Federal and state regulations strictly prohibit taking migratory game birds with a rifle, pistol, or single-projectile ammunition like a slug, and mandate that all shotgun shells contain approved non-toxic multiple projectiles (and no larger than specific shot sizes like T or F depending on the region). Game Warden Discretion: Carrying lead or single-projectile slugs in your blind or pocket while actively waterfowl hunting can easily be interpreted by a conservation officer as a violation of possession-of-prohibited-ammunition laws.

Lol,dont get your underwear bunched up ffs ,I looked up my tags this shoot was in 1986 when lead was still legal waterfowl loads on dry land, wtf calm down,are ya pissed because I didn't get busted good grief man get a life. Beside I didn't give it a 2nd thought and the warden at registration didn't know how my shotgun was loaded and frankly it doesn't matter or effects you.
