Last week the water temperature dropped about 13 degrees in just four days. Now it is back up nine degrees and seemed to confuse the fish a little. Numbers are outstanding but to catch big fish you have to stay on the move until you run into them. Pattern is still the same as last week. Fish are in the mid river holes near the main current. It seems the faster water the better. There are still two patterns going right now. Deeper water and sitting 25-30 minutes or fish the more shallow fast water with shorter sits playing the if they are there, they will bite game with 15-minute sits. Most spots are one or two fish and move on. I prefer the quick sits and get out. It seems if you do that you can catch more fish in a day rather than waiting on them.

The water levels are stable as is the temperature now. We have another cold front coming the end of the week but it does not look near as harsh as the last one. I don’t suspect much change to the bite other than they might force a longer sit or maybe move a little out of the main current.

Dead sucker is my go to again but frogs in the morning are really producing. I have not even heard of anyone using goldeye lately but then again there has not been many people fishing lately.

It appears that next week will end the guiding season. I still have some late September days available if anyone wants to get in before the end.
