I've posted many times about preserving spool depth with braid. My current preference is a speed clip and leaders attached to a split ring. This looks to have a few more feet of service and easier rigging of a slip float without a stop. You'd just clip "up" the leader until cutting into the braid for a new connection. If I had the means; I'd first try slow drifting a glowing grub under a slip bobber at the depth of smelt balls in August...

With my shore bound experience: I'd stick to clips and split rings: Bottom (no roll sinker above it "all" on the braid), slip bobber with varying leader lengths (float above everything like ^^^^bottom) and a couple "free" lure rods. The Boy & I used to hit the Tailrace with six rods and the fighting spirit of the US Marines. (Heartbreak Ridge--Clint Eastwood): Interlocking fields of fire:

We kept legal: One fished bait while the other casted Husky Jerks of various colors/sizes. We had songs in our heads and ate various snack foods. We liked snacks. The 4th/New Year Fish Fry was never lacking. The Butterball Turkey Fryer is not only for "turkey".

That is all:

If it works with leadcore, I see no reason why it won't work for braid. I keep trying to find easier ones to do quicker in the boat. I like the double uni, but I am not very speedy doing it. And I for sure can't do it in the boat in the wind. I have also done the Alberto which is easier than the uni I think. Problem is I I can't remember how to do them all. So just call me Jethro Bodine the double not not.

If you'r pulling a few inches of lead out then ya its basically braid to mono. That is how you're tieing it?
