I picked up a ruger model 96.22 lever action in mint condition in trade and i'm just curious if anybody has any input, they seem kinda rare online. I went on gunbroker and only one shows up for $899. The main thing I'm wondering is if I came across a gem and do I hold on to it or the neighbor is thinking of trading his riding mower for it. Any input from the gun gurus on value and/or rarity would be appreciated.

If you have no sentimental attachment to it and have a chance to trade it for something that would be of greater value in your life, make the trade.

At any given time, Ruger could re-introduce them or do a special run and the price goes from where it is, back down to $200-$300. IIRC they were $250-$300 when introduced in the late 90's and the production run was rather short 5-7yrs maybe?

The ones i see on GunBroker are 22 magnums.
Personally i would hang on to it but you might need a mower more. Just make sure the mower is worth it though.
