[h=3]Human remains found in NC lake believed to be man missing since 70s[/h] Posted: Jul 22, 2015 9:57 AM CST Updated: Jul 22, 2015 10:47 AM CST By WBTV Web Staff (Steve Ohnesoge | WBTV) CALDWELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV ) - Human remains were found inside a car pulled from Lake Rhodhiss in Caldwell County on Tuesday, officials say. A 1968 green Pontiac Catalina, the same car belonging to a man reported missing on February 19,1972 in Caldwell County, was retrieved from 30 feet of water at the Lake Rhodhiss Boar Access on Waterworks Road. Officials estimate the mud-filled Pontiac has been in the water for at least 40 years. The identity of the person found has not been released, but officials believe the remains belong to the man missing since the 70s. Investigators do not believe foul play is involved at this time. Investigators are hoping to find more information and evidence in the mud inside the car. The remains are being sent to a medical examiner for an autopsy and identification. “We take a serious approach to all case reported to the Sheriff’s Office and never consider a case closed until the truth is known,” sheriff Alan Jones said.
