Had to take one out at the end of the driveway at 8 pm last night. Shot with 22 mag. Then the wind changed direction and blew stink right at house. Got a bright idea and soaked the body down with half gallon gas and lit. Do you know how long a fat skunk will burn, it was 2 hours before he went out. Then this morning I have one in trap at far end of property. Shot him but he will have to wait until I get back from Doc to get his cremation. Should keep the stink down I hope. LB

I shoot them with a shotgun at close range. Right in front of the hind quarters. I say I saw them in half with a 12 ga and 9 out of 10 will not spray. Shooting them in the head and they spray 90% of the time. I have caught 5 Skunks and 1 Coon this spring around the barn.

1lessdog has it figured out. Body shots for the win. A headshot short circuits their CNS, causing all sorts of expulsions. Hit them in the body/heart with a .22 and they're less likely to spray. But the idea of a gasoline-soaked skunk incendiary in the driveway is hilarious. Please take a pic

couple years ago i shot one in my yard then the next day had 4 tiny skunk pups wandering around so small nothing left to pick up after using a guage on them
