The Grand Jury returned three counts of Reckless Manslaughter (Class F Felony) for the deaths of three occupants of the Holcombe vessel.

  • Count 1: Recklessly causing the death of Joey M. Broom
  • Count 2: Recklessly causing the death of John K. Clark.
  • Count 3: Recklessly causing the death of Jeffrey C. Little
Davis also faces two counts of Assault in the First Degree (Class F Felony) for recklessly engaging in conduct that manifested extreme indifference to the value of human life and caused serious physical injury to others.

  • Count 4: Causing serious physical injury to Luke H. Morgan
  • Count 5: Causing serious physical injury to Gary W. Holcombe
Additionally, the indictment includes three misdemeanor/other counts.

  • Count 6: Reckless Operation of Vehicle/Vessel
  • Count 7: Failure to Follow Boating Rules of the Road, specifically failing to maintain a proper lookout
  • Count 8: Boating Without Boater Safety Certification
Bail for Davis was fixed at $115,000.00. The indictment was presented by District Attorney R. Champ Crocker of the Thirty-Second Judicial Circuit.

If your any type of tournament director ot owner or sponsor u have your eyes on this. Imagine a 22foot 450hp walleye boat at 75mph with a rained up windshield it might of flew up but it sure as shit would of took a lot more collateral before going in the air.

i have seen a few trolling motor speed crashes sitting on my deck in dvl caused by people looking at depth finders/livescope.

WTF are the screens going to show you going that fast?

Could be lots of stuff. Maybe watching his engine data, tach, speed, jackplate or trim setting, or trying to follow a a track or watching his contour map. There’s so much going on, he may have glanced up but didn’t notice the other boat before looking back down at his graphs. Doesn’t excuse anything at all. It’s still a horrible situation where people lost there lives because of someone’s poor decisions.

Take that, and figure a new jaguar with a 500 will run triple digits. Stuff happens real quick at those speeds.
