So this happened this morning.

I see Beaconia beach on the south end so it must be a typo. I thought I knew the Canadian lingo pretty well so it threw me for a loop, now it won't bug me when I'm sitting on the chesterfield wearing my kangaroo or bunny hug.

LOW in the past, not sure if they do anymore, would cut the pressure ridge and build a bridge across the opening to let vehicles cross. That's scary driving across a 4 foot open water crack

There was a video that was posted on here t show a vehicles going through the ice, it was a pickup pulling a snowmobile trailer loaded with snowmobiles that completely sunk to the bottom in less then a minute. I believe it was in Europe though,.that one was creepy

Our goto walleye lakes here in mn,resorts plow,maintain ice roads, install bridges where needed and above all posted speed on these roads is 10mph which helps to minimize cracks


Down side with maintained ice roads,always some lazy ass popping holes 🕳 on the road to fish,roads are quite wide like a cty hiway.idiots drill holes and flood the area out.

Agreed going over these bridges, spooky,open water on both sides.

Well we are back up here on Winnipeg, staying out on the ice Monday through Friday. We figured with this nice week of weather we'd give it a shot. Some big new pressures ridges formed over the weekend so they are kind of messing up travel some. But so far we have almost 24 hours in, lots of eater size 16-22s but not allot of 25+ inch fish 4 of those so far. Best bite was 7-9 last night, pretty much nonstop action!If we get lucky I'll post something up.
Funny just as I was going to hit post we doubled on 25 inchers at 130 pm.

We argue about it all day! I want it off he wants it on. I feel the big fish 28+ don't like it at all, seems big marks turn away almost always where as smaller fish cruise on past. And this is without jigging. I think it's a larger lateral line thing myself..who knows! Lots of fish today but no masters. I think there's a good reason why the guides have their clients using vexilars. But ffs sure is allot more fun! Ha ha

Wish I could find the article again but guides on Lake Of The Woods are using Livescopes to drive fish back towards the houses where they have set they're clients up at. Usually working in pairs around the perimeter of the houses.
A lot of tournament bass fishermen are using to locate and then turning them off as they creep into where the fish are at.
They are fun to watch though.

We had the vents open and door cracked as well, especially after my experience last time. Thank God Mr buddy has that shut off safety feature.

Today's update
Definitely less action but still probably caught 25 fish. Best all day was a 24 until 7pm tonight and this 28.5 followed my buddies bait up several feet then left it "like sooooo many do it seems lately " but she made the mistake of following it up one more time! So it was nice to get this master on this trip!
Maybe it's just in our heads but we did turn the livescope off this afternoon.

Much slower this morning 6 eater size early then at 9 I caught a nicer one 25-26 I suppose didn't put it on the board then a 22 right after. Looks like big winds are coming tomorrow so we are going to pack up a day early. Was a fun 4 days out on the ice, hopefully my vehicle still has its windows still in it at the parking area.
Oh and for those coming up lots of pickups driving around with no problems. Forecast looks excellent after Friday, highs in the 20s lows in the teens a little snow. The big new pressure ridges are a challenge though for wheeled vehicles, even tracked units have very few spots to cross.

Oh there are guys that run n gun and do allot better! But as you get older that definitely gets tougher drilling through 3 foot of ice! As long as we catch a couple every hour we stay in the tent, if it gets slow we go tool around and try finding pods of fish with the livescope. I want to thank my buddies also that texted and called sharing information and spots that had been good this week. It's a giant basin, having a general idea definitely helps! Good luck to those of you heading up, for us spoons,jigs and jig rap style baits worked extremely slow with minnows worked best. The big fish are extremely spooky these days, I miss them flying in and crushing your rattle bait that's for sure!
