27 engines, thrust at takeoff = 5,000,000 pounds = 18 747s, putting a car and a dumby astronaut into a potentially billion year orbit around the sun, earth and mars, landing the boosters back on earth to be reused....

Simply amazing!

I was shocked when I saw the boosters land , That was one giant leap for mankind. Pretty sure my 5 year old grandson was glued to this event, He is going to be an astronaut.

Launching a rocket into space and putting your own car into orbit is such a power move. Love it

The nicest touch was they have "ground control to Major Tom" playing on the cars stereo.

Unbelievable, awesome stuff right there! I think the Bowie song they're playing on the car radio is actually Life on Mars.

Hope the cameras survived on the drone ship I would love to see that section hit at 300 miles an your! Had to laugh my mom was talking about how wasteful to launch a $100,000 car up there so I had to point for an extra few bucks he got the whole world to talk about and watch one of his cars. Now compare that to a 30-second commercial during the Super Bowl and you tell me which one's more wasteful because that's a hell of a lot of free advertisement for his other business.

Space Oddity is correct. Did anyone else notice the nod to Douglas Adams on the navigation/infotainment system. In nice big friendly letters "Don't Panic"

I'm sure he will , He is really into it. I watched Apollo 9 when I was that age, Walter Cronkite was the narrator and it was big news. Deep down, Those pioneers must of been scared shitless and ready to die.

Does anyone else find "Falcon Heavy" to be exceptionally ironic?

If they could build a "brain" and launch it into a black hole and record everything from the past and the future would it be good or bad ? In theory it should be possible. Only thing lacking is technology, We are still at the tip of the iceberg in that department.

Because birds are exceptionally light?

Falcons in particular are fairly small, light, and highly maneuverable.

The Space X Whooping Crane or Cargo Buzzard, something like that makes more sense to me.

Elon Musk is quite the guy.

Now he's selling $500 flamethrowers as well.

How would you ever get the data back when light can't even escape?
