Just seen my first big spin a little south of Mobridge. Specks have shown up in huge numbers over night

Been seeing and hearing a few local Canadian's checking out thier territory. No idea how far these go south but they seem pretty toughened in for cold weather. Fun starts in a couple weeks when you see trios of them flying together a fight will soon start and boy do they go at it .

Got a spot found about 5 feeds around this one but it has some sheet water and they like to loaf in it to so hoping that will work. Up at 3:30 to start setting decoys .

White devils won this morning. Little breakfast and nap back after them this afternoon. No shortage of birds but it’s the smart adults. Can’t kill them from the couch. Dog is pretty disappointed watching hundreds of honkers land and no shooting we got a couple looks this morning haha.

I will say since I have mover here in 02 never seen this many geese of all varieties sitting on the river. 40 mph winds we have one lined up tonight they were landing 10 yards from a group of cedars right off the lake.

We got 24 . The amount of birds is crazy in a two mile area from Mobridge never seems this since I lived . Guys I hunted with lived here their whole life has never seen this. That wind was brutal. I hope the juvies follow the same route I would say it’s 90 percent adults .
Hard to get good pics in this wind.

The big temp swings and 180 degree strong wind switches have to have had an effect on them. The river makes sense after last weeks dip below zero froze a lot of the sheet-water just as some bigger numbers were pushing North.
