Tags are out, daughters and I got ours (10yr old is first time tag). Hopefully weather is good again this year and we get some good memories made would be nice to knock down a couple birds too.

And no ticks.......definitely no ticks. I still have nightmares about last year's infestation of my legs and body from one particular spot I sat in. Let's just say "naked by the truck" was a thing and STILL had the wife picking them off me when I got home.

DO NOT FORGET: If you kill one from a group; the remainder will likely return to peck and kick the shit out of the flopping retard in both spring and fall. It's fun to double up.

FWIW IME; this doesn't apply to hens in fall. "Hundreds" of hens will appear from nowhere even with gobbler yelps. Shoot the best opportunity: Eat fried wild turkey.

In spring; if you're in the "middle of them" you have a good chance of pissing off a boss hen and having her "putt" all around you; looking for a fight.

I don't know what to do in this situation except stop calling and be still. This has NEVER resulted in success.

I know if I overcall, I have less success. But hard to keep one self in control. LOL
I have better luck when I call JUST enough to keep them interested. They are very inquisitive and once you have them coming I have a lot better luck if I call little to not at all.
As a side note, I now even force myself to sometimes even put my call BACK into my pocket when they are coming in.
