deferments are equivalent to drafts now. gotcha.

In the course of the Vietnam War, about 15.4 million men received deferments, were exempted or disqualified. No wait, I mean 15.4 million dodged the draft. Bastards.

I also have a problem with the president of the United States encouraging anyone to ignore the constitution he took an oath to uphold, and encouraging the firing of people for exercising their first amendment. IMO, there are a lot of things that have gone ass backwards, one of which is political parties seem to be more important to people than our constitution.
While I agree whole heartedly with your last comment here, how is the president encouraging someone to ignore the Constitution?

It is not unconstitutional for an employer to set standards including free speech on their employees when they are working.

The president did not say "shut that sob up.....he said get that sob off the field your fired.

I'm surprised that cobb's utopia never worked out. Seems like most of you fit right in. I know its not your fault you were raised to hate the black man but i'm sorry i wasn't raised like that. Don Cheeto and the remarks he said were uncalled for, I never did like him and after all this, he can suck a big fatty. "Make america great again" ummm ok, you mean make america like the 1950's again? start a race and divide the country?

- - - Updated - - -

Must suck, i lost all rep because im not on board the small chubby train;:;rofl

I personally am four years into the process of adopting a little black girl from Ethiopia. Do not call me racist. I am not anti-black. I'm anti-disrespect. I have lived my entire life in the United States. In North Dakota as a matter of fact.

I am not a hater like Cobb, nor do I want it to be 1950 again. However, in 1950, most people would not shit on the American Flag, Veterans, or the National Anthem. In that respect, I wish it WERE 1950 again.

And if you think that Trump started this race war, you're more stupid than I thought.

Personally I think the NFL is in for a big low in the future.(ratings And revenues.) Which in my opinion is what they need. If you can't or won't police your people then good luck you deserve what you are getting.

I have known many people who are very difficult to work with, unless you fire them about once per year. Truth. Good workers, welders of the highest caliber, but they need to be fired every so often, or you just can't get anything done..

Inequality did happen...in the past. Please inform of the inequalities they are facing.

Well there has never been a black preside....um okay twice now.

Okay, there has never been a black SCOTUS jud...... um no that's not it.

Um maybe a disproportionate number of black men are not being paid millions to play a game.......um no that's not it either.

Um maybe there is no way under our Constitution and rule of law if a black man can prove he was actually discriminated against he would be awarded millions.....um naw not that either.

Um Senators.....nope, Representatives...naw more than a few of those, Cabinet members.....naw not that either...... Neuro surgeons running for president? Pizza chain owners running for president,?

Um

Racism exists in this nation along with every other nation on earth, but this is NOT a racist nation. Big difference and disrespecting those families who have made the sacrifices that come with serving our military by claiming it is and not standing to honor what they have gven those protesting is nothing more than a fools arrogance.

- - - Updated - - -

is the poor black dude in that pic one of hundreds shot by black men last year? just wondering.

seems like that would be a better thing to protest if it's really a protest about bloody black dudes who got shot and they want it stopped

Thumbs Up

Mr blunt, do you think those that are willing to burn and loot and wreck havoc on their own communities where they live and destroy job opportunities that are provided to people of their own race, are the "victims" here?

What happens when cops and others deal with those on a daily basis willing to destroy their own communities like this ?

Is it really some how my fault as a white male living in ND that those people burned and looted Ferguson? Or does the fault and responsibility lie a little closer to home.

Who is standing up (or taking a knee) saying that on a national platform on Sunday afternoon? (kapernicks "pigs" socks are a great "principled" statement in that regard right? you were aware of Colins sock choice right?

Indeed racism was alive and well in Ferguson. It stood behind bullhorns and in front of cameras shouting "burn this bitch down" and sold T-Shirts with the "hands up,don;t shoot lie on them. It has the title "reverend" in front of it today.

As long as there exists those realities, as long as people think racism can only be one color, racism will remain as alive and well as when the Klan marched the streets years ago.

So once again who out
of those taking a knee or raising a clenched fist is talking about THAT?

If people like Kapernick are going to wear pig socks and claim they are to hilight police brutality and "rogue" cops........then he should also be honest enough to stand up and protest the actions of those people who burned a city and looted and destroyed businesses in their own community over a false narrative portrayed of a cop just doing his job.

The "hands up, don't shoot" narrative in the M Brown case was a lie. It was driven, perpetuated, USED becasue of the color of the cops skin. Is that racism?

When kapernick and others do not address this core principal in what is happening across this nation, their "protest" loses all credibility in my eyes and is not much different that the "rants" of a klan member.

I'll even take answers from marble, homeslice, and phillyblunt. Just so you know, and to take a little wind out of your sail, I think the President's words were incredibly unprofessional. I wish he'd stick to running the country instead of making tmz headlines. What are your guy's answers to these protests? Everyone continues to fight whether they have the right or not. Please, fill us in on what needs to be done. Marble, you come off as an intelligent person, so I'm assuming you will put together a well thought out response. You other two, well, surprise me.

If I had the answer to that I'd be remembered through history. Honestly, I don't think everyone will ever think everyone is treated equally in the same way I don't think it's possible to eradicate evil. I don't even pretend to have the answer and I don't think there is permanent solution. A lot of this stuff just comes down to human nature and the way we are wired and we have no control over that.

When I read the comments directly from the guys who felt they needed to take a stand, I take it that they just want to start a discussion about what they view as inequality, racism, the judicial system etc. A few of them feel like they need to do something so their kids can grow up in a more positive environment than they did. Some of them feel like they are wasting an opportunity to better our society if they don't at least try to right what they view as wrongs. Since I have never walked a mile in anyone else's shoes, I can't just write them off as if they are imagining what they clearly feel strongly about.

I can only draw from two experiences in my life that I felt discriminated against to the point where I can even have a slight understanding of what they are talking about. Even those experiences are a far cry from trying to pretend that I have even the slightest clue as to what it would be like to black, or a woman, a minority, a millionaire, a celebrity etc.
The point is if you just write people off or just place people in a group and discount them, you are closing the door on a conversation to try to understand where people are coming from. Everyone has their own story and experiences in life that shape who they are and why they see things the way they do.

After all that long winded explanation, the main thing that I believe needs to be done is both sides should listen to why people feel they aren't being treated equal. Those conversations tend to make people uncomfortable and it's easier to just say, "what inequality" or "nope, you're wrong" and end the conversation. Unfortunately, you throw race and politics into a discussion and it's normally over before it starts. One thing I can guarantee is no matter what the subject is, if both sides aren't willing to listen with an open mind then that issue isn't going away and won't be solved. The crazy part is I don't even think you need to agree with the other side necessarily, you just need to be able to put yourself in their shoes to try to understand where they are coming from and have a little empathy and try to make small changes if at all possible. Even just slowing down a bit and thinking about what is being said instead of trying to prove why you and right and they are wrong, which I think applies to most people, obviously myself included. That goes farther than you might think. And yes, I know this whole post may come off as arrogant and preachy but you asked and I gave you the best answer I have, which unfortunately isn't much. All of this is just my opinion and in no way do I think I have it figured out. I enjoy these kinds of discussions because I already know what I think and I like hearing others points of views so I can hear differing opinions to try to form a better opinion of my own.

More white guys are shot by cops than black people..... funny how facts just don't back up all these social Injustice claims

Considering whites make up around 63% of the population and blacks make up around 13% of the population, I would imagine so. You aren't making an apples to apples comparison.

I don't think there is one singular answer to the issues that have these guys kneeling down. But I don't think the answer is of great historical significance either. Teaching kids how to act correctly, respect other people and be a productive member of society is not a racial issue. I believe if people would set their kids up for success, the world would fix itself. But until that happens, we're going to see adults yelling for changes to be made to some system to benefit themselves and others like them.

Thank you for your response marble.

So why are a higher percentage of blacks serving time in jail.......oh never mind it is all racism.

But wait if there is a higher percentage of the black population committing crimes..............wouldn;t it make sense that there is going ot be a higher percentage haveng confrontations with police that lead to shootings?

never mind it has to be racism.

ah yes the liberal hashtag you and Michelle work it well.

Considering they are expressing their first amendment rights and he is encouraging the owners to fire them based on those direct actions, imo he is not upholding his oath and to me that's the president most important role. I don't think he is maliciously doing it but it's a side product of him having no filter and saying what is on his mind. It's one of his biggest appeals and I get that since in my lifetime I have watched politically correctness shit taken waaay beyond any common sense. I just believe the president of the United States has to choose their words carefully when it come to stuff like this. I'm not trying to single trump out because in my lifetime I have seen every president from both parties ignore parts of the constitution in order to try to get what they want. I think in need to take a break from this conversation for a bit because I am making myself nauseous by coming off like I know everything. Again, it's just the way I see it.

Clinton, Bush, and Obama kicked the can down the road with NK and now there is no road left. Clinton is the one who gave them the technology for nuclear power plants, in a country that exports coal. Clinton and the others have paid him off with money to quite his rhetoric and where has that gotten us? I don't see Trump threatening to send a missile to Guam, hydrogen bomb testing, lobbing missiles over Japan, threatening a hydrogen bomb test in the Pacific Ocean and many more threats. All Trump threats are threats of retaliation if we are attacked.

This is one phrase that I am sure sent the guy over the edge " China is the one, the only one, that can control Kim Jong Un, this crazy fat kid that’s running North Korea,”

It's very sad to think that in theses next coming months, our brothers, sisters, kids and grandkids could be sent over seas not to fight a war for what our flag stands for and means but because mr. dotard cant stay off twitter, he likes to provoke, pick at and make fun/name calling (it's a generation thing) the North Koreans. Maybe out 5-time draft dodger could get off his phone and TRY to make the country great again.

I guarantee you that if Trump does nothing with North Korea and they lob a nuke at Japan, Guam, or USA, he will be blamed for inaction and dereliction of duty. If he acts and takes out the terrorist North Korean leader, he will be blamed for getting the USA into another war and dereliction of duty. Its a win-win for the libtards and the lying deceitful press.

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Kaepernick told NFL Media on 8-27-16

I thought this protest was about unity and had nothing to do with the flag or the national anthem.

Dammit gst, I was trying to take a break. I never said anything about racism. That word gets thrown around so much where it doesn't apply that it's almost lost all meaning. I just thought it's pretty important to know the large discrepancy in population difference to draw an accurate conclusion.
