Would you support a state specific fishing tour for North Dakota? A tour of walleye tourneys for our state with the possibility of expanding into South Dakota as long as it didn't conflict with any of the regular tourneys already out there? A tour built by the people of ND for the people of ND. Yay or Nay. Before anything came to fruition, there would be mass communication ironing out every possible detail the people would like/hope to see. I sure hope so because I just launched The Dakota Walleye Tour.

I believe that it would almost have to be affiliated with some sort of charity program.

I like the idea. I would support.

Can you post more information on it?

There is none. We're going to ask everybody what they want to see and run stuff that way the right way. This is a people's thing. You guys bring to the table what should be done. We want this streamlined to what the people want. Locations, entry-fees, limits, etc. We're going to do it the ND way, the way people want it. Details, many a many details will have to be ironed out. Suggestions, feedback etc is what we need. Let's see if we just can't put a good goddam thing together for our state. Nothing will come to fruition this year. Many things will need to be done obviously. One of the major things will be scheduling and locations. It's going to be statewide at usual walleye fisheries. Early idea planning is needed. You tell us what should be done, it will happen, no bs.

I've been wanting to see this for a long time. North Dakota is way behind on walleye circuits in this wonderful state. I have always wanted to fish a circuit that would be affordable and not a two state drive. I like the though of competing for a circuit title and angler of the year title.

I like the idea, not as something I would be incredibly interested in participating in, but the general idea. The one concern I do have is the number of locations you'll be able to fish in a year. When the dry weather comes (and it will) the locations available for many people to fish are going to dwindle rapidly. You will essentially be left with Missouri River System and Devils Lake. Could potentially still fish the Red, Ashtabuhla, Darling and a few others, but the circuit will largely revolve around those two systems. You'll have to determine if these locations are enough to satisfy participants. I feel this is a good reason to jointly institute a circuit with SD. More waters to fish in total and wider variety, as well.

I think this is a great idea. I would support it and may even try to do an event or two depending on travel.

I think some key points to consider are affordability. Since many aren't "professional" they would be footing the entire bill. If the payouts get large enough, you will have professionals enter events. Would you want two separate fields for pro's and am's? Would these be individual tournaments or team events?

I would like to see a points system to determine an angler of the year award.

Start with 1 or two days events to keep costs down. 3 day events would require more hotels, potentially time off work, etc.

Would like to see a season ending championship event.

Try to secure sponsorships for the events. Giveaways and added prize money.

If it's a team event, I like the idea of being able to keep 8 fish, but weigh your top 5.

Great idea, but a lot of thought and work. There are thousands of decisions to make. I would participate as much as possible because I am a tournament addict. I also agree that it would be hard to get away from the Missouri River system and Devils Lake. They are two completely different beasts and anyone who can be successful on both is a true champion. Good luck

Well said, Oahe, Sak and the Devil would make a great series, I would donate my entry fee.

I personally feel as though tourney fishing brings out the worst in people. So I do not participate.
They used to have an ice one at Skunk bay, was more of a weekend of boozing and hanging with buddies tourney though, not a big dick contest full of cheats and jackals

Best way would be to get the fishing clubs in the state to work together in both sponsoring them and making it a "tour" type event. Using the clubs would help with the logistics and manpower needs to do something like this. Otherwise, you need to have a way to make money to pay for people to work and run them. And, unfortunately, anytime a tourney doesn't pay back 100% people bitch bitch bitch and think whoever's running it is ripping them off and making millions.

Even in the little angler tourneys on Devils Lake there is turmoil and controversy. Someone always complains that so and so received a tip during the tourney on their cell phone... Yada yada yada... Those little tourneys are fun though even though i havent fished one in quite a while.

Exactly. As if the boat ramps arent plugged enough weekends of the year in the name of tournaments.
