I just can't see spending 3,000 on a smoker. Guess I don't have that kind of money in my bbq budget.
I use a Bradley that I picked up for around 500, and a weber genius that cost about 850, and a charcoal weber that I have had for 25 years and still cooks up a damn good beer but chicken.

If anyone decides to buy a large BGE, I have a stand that I will make you a heck of a deal on. Got my egg and used the stand for about a month before I decided to get a table for it.

Ive cooked a fair amount of meat on a traeger and never had a bad experience and fabulous BBQ!!

Anyone have experience with the Rec Tec's yet, Ive never heard of them until today and curious to hear more as Im in the market for another pellet cooker.. Right now Im really interested in the Yoder 640 and GreenMountain grill - any advice on either brand??

I have had a Yoder YS640 for over 4 1/2 years and have been very happy with it.
Compare the following with other pellet grills you are considering...
- Cook chamber is 10 gauge steel, weighs over 300 pounds and is built like a tank!
- Can adjust temp from 150º to 600º plus.
- With 2nd shelf there is 1070 square inches of grate space.
- Warranty is 3 years control systems and 10 years on the grill body.
- Made in the U.S.A.

Mossy, what would you choose between pellet grill or BGE if you could only have one? If pellet or different Kamodo, which one?

I have a traditional offset smoker...works great! However I think ill be switching to the egg. Trying to smoke something in the colder months has proven to be quite a task.
Traditional offset smoker here as well. start a small charcoal fire the add wood of choice. id like a electric for the fact i can be lazy like the rest of you guys but at least to me you cant beat the taste of a real smoker

Love my Traeger. I've had it for about three years and have an insulating blanket for it during winter. Also bought a cool smoke bolt-on for cheese, etc. Only problem, it's so easy to operate, the wife has taken over "ownership".

Yet more proof that pellet "grills" aren't grills. Some dude's wife can use it. Pellet grills = baking, not grilling.

I'm curious what the benefit to that cheese accessory is. When I smoke cheese I use just a grill with no heat and a smoke tube.

I'm sure that works just as good for cheese; I thought I would use the cold smoker more than I actually do. Plus, it adds to the overall length of the unit. Only so much cheese someone my age can or should eat, lol.
