Trap shooting

Does anyone on here shoot trap in the summer? I’ve taken it up recently, I’m not in a league but it’s fun to go once a week and shoot. Have gotten close to the perfect score, but find myself shooting 20-25 pretty consistently.

I bought a nice thrower for home and to get the kids going. Unfortunately I don't use it near as much as I should. I've never shot trap formally really, maybe one day IF things ever settle down but I don't see that coming for another 20yrs

Used to shoot some trap but not enough to get good at it. I have shot in a skeet league since the early 90's. Did well but then started shooting less and age caught up to me but still enjoy an evening every week during the summer with the guys. Beer after shooting and conversation are the best.

Shot a lot of trap in the late 70's and early 80's. Then shot sporting clays late 80's and early 90's. Now at 79 back shooting SC the last 2 years. Just a middle of the road shooter but enjoy it a lot. Great comradery.

Skeet, 5-Stand, Sporting Clays, I enjoy them all.

I worked @ a trap club a couple summers in my early teens. I haven’t shot more than 3-4 rounds of trap since.

If I had a little more free time I’d entertain joining one of their leagues. With having a senior in high school my weeknights are pretty full with after school activities. Right now it’s just fun to catch up with a couple friends for an hour.

Got the 11yr old daughter on the thrower last night for the first time. After a little bit of work I think she hit 4-5 in a row and then would get a miss a few and hit a few. Everything was straight away and at different angles for height. I shot probably 6-8 rounds so she could watch (I'm not the best to be teaching but not many choices) and we got through 1.5 boxes before she decided she had enough.

My son got to start it as a sixth grader at Fargo North this spring. He LOVED it. Went from maybe getting 1 out of 25 to consistently breaking 19-20 out of 25 by the end.

We're both super pumped for hunting season!

I told him if he keeps this up through his senior year, he'll get as many rounds in six years as I did in probably 20!

Doesn't North Dakota have a High School Trap League like Minnesota ?

Not sure the total in 6yrs but in the last 2yrs our SCI Chapter has gave the Fargo North Team over $10,000, I think over $6,000 in 2025 and $4,600 in 2026.

Shotgun sports are great fun,shot competitive trap 20+ years traveled several states for ATA trap shooting competition, lost interest when store bought ammunition prices shot up never had the time or ambition to reload like my squad mates,since I retired a few years ago I acquired my shotgun coaching/instructor permit and and instruct our local high school shooting class every spring when im back in town from long winters as a senior ski bum. It's rewarding working with our youth,the excitement and competitive element today its a spendy sport to be consistent if score matters but fun with friends to dust off the rust b4 hunting season. Recent years stepped away from trap shooting, sold my trap gun and took up sporting clays,enjoy the fast action not so serious like trap,our local clubs have sc walk thru courses shoot 100 rounds on a 2 mile course is great fun,thankfully my goto club rent golf carts which is a blessing for us old farts for our ammo and cooler of cold drinks on hot summer days,these courses are like playing golf with a shoutgun 5stand is good fast action practice as well.

Main thing is being safe and having fun.
Got hooked my 1st year long ago shooting league, drove into the gun club parking lot which was full of guyz off work,enjoying bbqing cold brews sitting on truck tailgates after the shoot and we never had a shooting mishap,I was hooked.
