I don't think it's fly fishing. Pretty sure in that gay cowboy movie they tell their wives they'll be in the mountains "trout fishing." I've never seen the movie and I'm not about to watch it to clear this up.

The local equivalent would be "bowhunting in the badlands." Guys who do this together are most certainly sodomites.
