Ok I want to try this stuff, but here is my problem. I have a Jiffy Legend that is 20 some years old and requires a 24 to 1 fuel/oil mixture. True Fuel only comes in 50 to 1 and 40 to 1 ratios. Can I just add more oil to the True Fuel or is this not a good idea ? 24 to 1 ratio requires 5.5 ounces of oil and 40 to 1 requires 4 ounces of oil. Thanks!

Not where I'd like to be
I'm confused. If you have to mix oil with it anyway to get to 24:1, what advantage does using "True Fuel" give you?
Even if you're not concerned about possibly mixing different types of oil (I would be), seems like it would require math and be more error-prone than just a straight mix.

What motor does your auger have ? and do you still have the book ? According to jiffys website all jiffy augers require 40:1 mixture .

http://www.jiffyonice.com/EComStore/pages/qanda.aspx#Q21
What is the correct mixture of oil and gasoline to use for fuel in a Jiffy?
The correct ratio for all Jiffy Power Ice Drills is 40 to 1. This means 3.2 oz of Jiffy Two-Cycle Oil is mixed with 1 Gallon of fresh gasoline. If you don't use a 40:1 oil mixture it will void all warranties.

Specialty oils like and oil only require 100:1 ratios and are good for any two stroke no matter what traditional oil ratio grey require

My strikemaster says 24:1 and I have been using the true fuel 40:1 for a couple of years. My auger has never run better.

I'd buy non-ethanol premium gas and mix it according to your engine's instructions with quality 2-stroke oil meant for air-cooled engines like Stihl's chain saw motor oil. Saving a bit on oil or convenience won't pay for a new auger.

i have called and spoke with strikemaster on this issue, because my auger says 24:1, well i would have fouling all the time and oil drips out of my exhaust. The technician told me to just use a 40:1 pre mixed fuel and i haven't looked back. My auger needed a tune up after all the 24:1 and after that it runs like a dream. Even starts way better.

I have an old weedwacker that I have used for almost 2 decades, for a couple seasons I just but regular old 10w30 in it when I was out of mixed gas. An once or 2 of 10w30 in the tank, and a top off of straight gas. Shitting thing runs like a champ to this day.

I wouldn't sweat using 40 to 1 in a 24 to 1 personally. It will likely be fine. But I am just a dumb ass who takes crazy risks with mixed fuel motors..haha

With the improvement in oils, I wouldn't think twice about just running 40:1 Truefuel. The 24:1 was just a recommendation as most companies over state their ratios to be overly conservative, especially in the distant past. I used to have two Honda CR 250R dirt bikes that recommended 20:1 in the owners manual. I ran a 40:1 ratio with no issues for many years.

ratios, ratios, we don't need no stinking ratios

dark blue = lots of oil, less dark blue = just right, light blue = sketchy...

just roll with it:cool:

I'll echo what has been said above as well.. My early 90's Eskimo suggests a 24:1 mix, but I've been running 40'sh:1 using high octane gasoline ever since Ive owned it and it runs awesome..
