The story from our farm goes something like this--- In the late 20s, my dad was a kid and tame turkeys weren't very abundant in these parts. His mom had found some hens but no Tom. Took her a long time to find one and get it home and within a day or two Dad heard a commotion and ran to see what was wrong and he though the tom was killing the hens . Perfect aim with a full corn cob right in the head and the Tom was dead and Dad got a lesson about the birds and the bees.
