Saw a booth at the MN state fair for Venom Floats. Basically instead of cutting your foam bobbers they make adjustable bobbers for different weight tackle. Pretty ingenious little rigs. Also, they have some new glow terminal tackle that will glow for upwards of 30-45 min depending on the color. Spoke with the owner Cory Robinson for a good little bit, he's a real nice guy and he's not digging in your pockets like a lot of the big tackle vendors. Check them out.

The website is a little sparse on info for available tackle because their web development guy kind of disappeared. Check out their Facebook page for more info. If anything I can get you a phone number to talk to Cory yourself.

Those have been out for 5-6 years, haven't they?

I have a set. Not too tickled. Kind of cumbersome. The little weights with the needle to stick in and fine-tune your bobber is a pain to store. Always wants to tip up and keep the lid on your little tackle container from shutting.

I've yet to be in a situation where getting a really neutral buoyant or super sensitive bobber has helped my catch rate. If the fish are that finicky, I'll use my spring bobber.

Neat concept, though.

Wonder what he has to pay Ted "I Don't Turn Down a Single Promo Offer" Takasaki to wear that hat.

No needles or anything for these bobbers.

Ummm...yes. Yes there are:

Now, you don't HAVE to use them. And in all reality I should have tossed them a long time ago. But this is what comes in the back. A little weighted needle that you stick in the bottom of the foam and put into the plastic base/holder thing. It's another way to fine-tune your bobber beyond simply pulling the foam out or pushing it in, depending on the heft of the lure at the end of your line.

once fish get so persnickety that femtotgrams of bobber density matter I've got better things to do with my panfishing time. I know some guys are all about neutral density though so it's worth a shot to them.

Reading this reminded me of just how much i loathe targeting perch. Literally just put me in a bad mood.

yes - using a camera I have seen perch do things with a bait that would make you hurl to think you thought you had a chance to hook them sans camera

Well, that's NOT the same product I just saw AND held.

The one the guy had didn't have the pin. Shouldn't need the weight to reach neutral buoyancy, the way he was showing me is the weight is actually used to slowly make the rig slowly sink. Seemed like a decent idea to convince some finicky fish to bite. Also my interest was more in the glow tackle which their webpage doesn't have at the time. Especially considering my frustration with how short a time you have with the tackle currently available.
