I rode old Moto-Skis, early 70's F340's and later model Futura's. They rode like tanks, once I got on a modern sled it was amazing! Finally gave up the sport several years ago.

If anyone is looking for old Moto-Skis, send them my way! Have three of them....

Are you sure it would do 75mph? My Polaris 432 would do about 50mph on a smooth hard surface. With the suspensions back then I always thought 50mph felt like 75-80mph.

They say there is a guy in Park River or Grafton that has a lot of old Racing sleds that he shows, anybody know about this?
I know the old man sold my sled to a guy in Cavalier, he fixes up old sleds especially the Rupp.

Did he have a big nose ? back when I was racing there was a rupp guy from over there he had a huge nose and had acquired the nickname Nostrils. He raced the first 440 magnum rupp I ever saw.

That Sno coup reminds me of the Ridgerunner trail boss made in MN and later sold to steiger MFG in Fargo. Steiger didn't last long on the snowmobile business.

I had a 1977 Yamaha Exciter 440 and a 1980 Artic Cat 5000 El Tigre. I really like them sleds.

When we were younger we had a Allis Chalmers Rustler 18 hp and a Scorpion Stinger 400.

Most people I knew had John Deere sleds back in the 70s and 80s. They were great machines.
Yep came out with the bullet proof Kohler engines in the 70s ,the John deere snowmobiles were set up differently then your racing sleds that used those same engines like the mercury or Rupp, but with some engine upgrades it could easily keep up with Yamaha srx and artic cat z. A classmate had a 78 John deere spitfire that was easy to handle because of its shorter body but with that kohler engine it would start no matter how cold it got. John deere demise was when some say they went to a more powerful motor but more prone to problems in the kawasaki engine.
