Got about a 1 1/2 in rain collector. Few branches on ground and thats about it,

1.1 in the gauge. wind snapped the pole and backboard from the base on kids BB hoop

.75 in my gauge and a little hail the size of peas at my place on north hill. 6 miles north of town hailed enough that there is crop damage, 15 miles NE of town 3.5 inches of rain. On the news this am, 77 mph winds at Churches Ferry and Carrington had 6 inches of rain.

I'm guessing it was up on that overpass in the westbound lane, Seems to me I remember a wind meter up there. I saw air under semi trailer tires up there one day but it didn't tip over. That's one windy little knoll.


Hot and humid air will stream into the Northern Plains as a warm front surges north, sending temperatures rising well into the 90s. Riding over the top of that hot and humid air is much drier air and an active jet stream.

This volatile combination of ingredients ignited a bowing line of severe thunderstorms in northern North Dakota, Friday afternoon.

Those storms produced at least one wind gust over 100 mph late Friday afternoon. The 101 mph wind gust was measured along Highway 2 near Church's Ferry, North Dakota.

Neighbor had a tree fall down across their electric service line.....precisely 10 minutes after he left for work. Fell right where his pickup was parked. Very impressed with Ottertail Power Co - they had a crew out to disconnect power 45 minutes after I called. It was an ugly tree anyway and no person or property was injured/damaged. Kudos to those who brave to storms in raised buckets to ensure we remain safe and have our TV to keep us company! I was sure to thank our lineman for what he does as he stood in the pouring rain.....

When my bride and i go out to eat at a restaurant if we see any law enforcement, fire fighters, EMT's, or people in the military we ask our waitress to bring us their bill and we will pay it. We also say do not tell them who is picking up their bill as we aren't doing it for recognition or their thanks. Just happy for their service and dedication and also happy that we can afford to do it for them.
We also give our mail carrier, garbage truck drivers and helper Christmas cards with cash in it. We give that to them personally in an envelope and thank them for their good work throughout the year. Both help us out when we are hurting or have more mail or garbage than usual at certain times of the year. We appreciate that and want them to know it. Hey 100 bucks isn't big money but i know when i was young any amount would have been appreciated.
Just what we do and glad we can do it.
