What is your favorite?

Ice fishing
Boat fishing
Shore fishing

I probably prefer boat fishing, but with my work schedule, I get a lot more time for ice fishing, so it is narrowing the gap.

Its rarely to windy, cold, cloudy, or a boat control issue when ice fishing.
I have sat at the camp ground many a times with the boat on the trailer because of said issues.

The part I like about boat fishing is, all my (boat fishing) stuff stays in my boat in the garage and I just back up and hook up to the trailer. I move around more in the boat. When I ice fish I have to pile my stuff in the pickup when I go and unpack it when I get home. I usually park my butt in one spot and wait for the fish when ice fishing, especially when its cold out.

For me it's ice fishing, shore fishing, then boat fishing. I find the first two very relaxing and peaceful, fishing from a boat can be a cluster at times. I can usually get away from the crowds and find decent spots on the ice.

Shore!! I enjoy the simplicity. No electronics, one rod, backpack of tackle, and a fish basket. Then nothing but peace and tranquility. At least where I go it is. Some shore spots are more like night clubs than fishing spots.

Boat fishing, shorefishing, then ice fishing. If it wasn't for my son likeing it so much I probably wouldn't ice fish.

I like the warm temps and being able to move around so boat first, ice second.

A case could be made for all 3, but if I have to rank them:

1) boat-cover more water, more detailed electronics, more options
2) ice-serenity, peace, relaxation, quiet
3) shore-quick, short drive, low expectations

It's a tie between ice fishing and boat fishing. I bought a boat and little 12ft boat so I don't have to shore fish.

Hmm... 1st.Boat fishing first ... Cover more area more options to fish ie. Crank Baits.. trolling... Jigging.. also when I'm making monthly payments on a boat I try to use it as much as possible

2nd. Ice fishing.... This has been my passion before I owned a boat cuz I could get anywhere I couldnt from shore.

3rd shore fishing... It is nice to get out real quick especially when there are small dams nearby

Nothing quite like staring a black hole like all your mom's. At least a droning outboard doesn't put me to sleep again like all your mom's and destroy the Earth with carbon emissions.

Oh!! You got one!! See it skipping over there!! REEL!! Wrannnng wrannnng wrannng: REEL DAMN IT--shi'ite! The planer is effing tangled again! Shi'ite!!

Exciting.

last year i would of said boat fishing, but i ended up selling off the boat. So now its Ice fishing. Bumming boat rides and shore fishing are about a tie. plenty of places to slaughter fish from shore if you do it right.

I'll have to go with shore fishing. I agree KDM being back off the trail alone hammering fish is truely something else. To me shore fishing is more difficult in general than boat fishing most of the time. Makes the payoff that much more special.

I'll take any of the three over working! Haha...if I had to pick one I would say ice fishing..love marking fish and coaxing em to bite. Nothing better than marking a fish and having it smack your lure...but also nothing more frustrating than marking fish and throwing everything you got at it and can't get a bite to save your life. In addition, tip up fishing for big northerns is a little bit fun a lot.
