About 6 months into dating my Fiance, I took her out to Wyoming for pronghorn hunting. She let me shoot off her back for one of the does haha, and helped me skin and quarter the two does and the buck I got. I did all the knife work, but she held the legs and helped pull hide and haul meat out. Never complained once. That's when I knew she was the one! She also will bait and unhook her own fish, but I still will do it from time to time. Good woman. I never would make her gut or skin a deer, I am just glad she enjoys the outdoors almost as much as I do.
I just proposed this weekend while out deer hunting after a year and a half. We hiked up a high butte and I think she was ready to kick my ass. I had her stand facing away from me looking some awesome scenery while I said I was taking a picture when I was actually fumbling with the ring and got down on one knee. Started playing a song and when she turned around, she wasn't so tired from hiking anymore. The rest is history! Now we just need to fill some deer tags[/QUOTE

Congrats to both of you on your engagement! :;:thumbsup

I personally have no issue gutting the deer regardless of who shot it. I've even gutted several of my dad's deer but gladly do it just for the fact that I'm the reason he hunts. The times outdoors with family is way more important than who does what in my opinion. I can't imagine losing out on memories with my dad or daughter due to the fact that they don't want to gut a deer. KDM was even gracious enough to gut my daughter's buck on Sunday as he is way faster than me(and more effective). On the plus side he taught me a few tricks that I'll be using on future deer.

I am pretty proud of my wife. She will not gut the animal, but she helps skin and butcher all the way up to freezer raping the finished product. I am especially happy because she never even went hunting one time before she met me. She has now shot two mule deer bucks 4x4, and 3x4. She has one 4x4 white tail and a pretty nice goat from this year. I also got her out in the decoys for the first time this year and she knocked out 8 big honkers. Pretty proud husband I am.

Really don't care. I hunt with my wife and two daughters and do most of the gutting and skinning. One of my daughters and my wife try to to gut and skin their deer but it's painful to watch so I do it. They do, however, help with the processing which is a big family event in our house. For me it's quality family time without electronics and other junk and I am always a proud husband and father when they fill their tags and have smiles ear to ear.

This right here. Nailed it all

My wife hunts with us. Pheasants and deer. She likes doing the "dirty work". She hangs stands, checks cameras, guts her own deer, processes, and grinds up burger.
Not sure if I would mind if she didn't do the extra work, as I enjoy doing it all too. The stands and cameras she checks means theres less for me to do!

Not sure if this was ever brought up, but I'll go ahead with it.

Its great that most of you get your spouses, girlfriend, daughter involved with hunting, nice to see them get involved in something you like to do or they like to do.

My curiosity got me thinking of how many do more than shoot the deer/game, take a picture with it and walk away, let someone else do the dirty work? I don't thinks that right, I would love to just shoot my deer and let joe gut it, skin it and quarter it.

My cousin daughter got her youth tag this year and filled it, he made her skin the deer, he sets a good example to his daughters that its not all about going out and shooting the game, then go home and not get involved with processing of the game.

I'm all for getting the females involved with hunting, but think they should also be involved in processing the game, don't care how gross they think it is, hunting is not about just shooting.

I got to thinking, how many of you guys sit down and eat the dinner your wife has made and not help with the cleaning or how many take a picture of your newborn baby and not help with the diapers because you think it's gross?

Just saying it's Okay if your daughter or wife doesn't help with certain aspects of hunting. We do stuff for them, they do stuff for us. No use in keeping score, especially when it comes to hunting.

There is some separation of duties in my household. She’s not changing oil on the car or running the chainsaw and I’m not doing a whole lot of grocery shopping. But I help with most everything else. Cooking duties are split, dishes, laundry, cleaning up after kids, etc.

I've never even asked if my wife wanted to help. I enjoy butchering meat. It's what I do. I've tought my son how to to filet fish, but often times forget to make him do some. We both have assumed our roles cooking/ prep if it involves a large chunk of meat I do all the work if anything else she does.(Ya I'm chuckling typing that) I have no problem with this. I will butcher any animal I help someone take whether they are capable of doing it or not. If someone wants to help or learn I will teach them.

I've never made a cake for my wife or kids bdays. I'm pretty sure everyone is ok with this. I better make sure she's not questiong this on a forum somwhere.

I have a daughter that can start hunting next year. She may she may not. If I made her gut the deer she would probably never go again. If she enjoys shooting a deer and taking a pic. I will do it as long as she's willing just to get to enjoy the time together.

I never ask my wife to open doors for me either.

I'm pretty sure I don't want my wife helping with the sausage. To many questions of the type "Why do you . . . . ." That and while we're clean and don't pick chunks of meat off the floor I'm not going to scrub the grinder or stuffer out after every batch. Some things I think it's better if she doesn't help. I'm thinking my granddaughter might be the tougher of the bunch when it comes to her and the grandsons. She's a trooper.

No daughters just 3 adult sons from my first marriage of which only 1 hunts or fishes.

My wife now (traded up from a Yugo to a Ferrari) likes hunting and loves fishing. she will bait her own hook unless its a worm or leech takes her own fish off the hook and helps clean fish. she loves to go hunting with me and my adult son but does her damn happy dance when I do not get a deer tag.

Last year I got lucky after 5 years and drew a tag and was with me when I got my deer. She wanted to help drag it out of the switchgrass CRP with snow on the ground but for those of you that have met her know that it would have probably made a great America's Funniest Home Video (shes 4'8").

She did help with boning, grinding and making sausage.

We have some friends that come out here to duck hunt and she loved sitting in the blind so much she is prepared to get her hunters safety course next spring so she can duck hunt. she already has plans for me to get waders and other equipment for duck hunting and our pup will be old enough to duck hunt next year.

She does love eating wild game and fish so going hunting or fishing is not an issue unless I try to leave her home. She even has been trying to get me to go to Alaska fishing for Halibut.

I have a serious question: why do you gut deer?

Pull the quarters, straps, and neck meat without opening the torso. Once all is done, you can cut in under the spine to retrieve the tenderloins. It all fits nicely into a medium/large cooler. pop the head off and toss it in a garbage bag for Mr. Warden.

After all these years I still don’t like gutting deer, so I don’t. Thanks to You who showed me years ago I don’t need to gut a deer.
