WTB 22 hornet

Want to buy a Ruger 22 Hornet, preferably a new one because I don’t want to spent $2000 on a gun I shouldn’t shoot. Ruger super black hawk or 77/22 preferred. Let me know if you see one at a local ND gun shop!

I have a number of guns but the two i would hate to give up are a model 70 in 264 and a prewar model 70 in 22 K hornet.
Back in the day when there were jackrabbits in the spring they would lay in the farrow of the plow. It was also a time when plows were still used. I would take the 264 to hunt deer but when it came time to use i would put it down and use my 300 mark 5 Weatherby. The 264 had too much speed and would blow up as soon as it hit a bone with store bought shells.

But i remember well when dad took his 1949 Olds and we when on a quarter of bare land. The ground was frozen in the morning, and we kill around 25 rabbits and threw in the back seat of the family car. When i took the 222 also in a pre64 model 70 the rabbit would get up a run maybe around 50 to 100 yards and then die. With the hornet they die in the spot they were laying. Again, too much speed in the 222.

Back in the late 70's, early 80's I had a Ruger No. 3 Hornet. Deadly jackrabbit killer. I cannot understand how I was so fn dumb as to get rid of it. Even dumber was to part with the No. 1 220 Swift.

The 264 WM has killed 1000's of Deer, Elk and Antelope with factory ammo. And never once have I ever heard, there to fast and the bullet will blow up on a bone. And a 222 having to much speed and Rabbits will run 50 to 100 yds after being hit. I have shot 1000's of Jack Rabbits in the 70's shooting them with 22 rimfire up to a 22-250 with 55gr SP factory and many ,many Jack's would just about be sawed apart with them factory shells.

Your rabbits must have been different than the ones i shot at. Back then there were a lot of rabbits shot under a spotlight also during the day. Rabbits provided a lot of memories, and it is a shame they are no longer around for the young to shoot at as we did. db

Sounds like maybe "fur-saving" FMJ projectiles in the Deuce vs. 45/46gn soft-point/HP in the Hornet.

I have whacked plenty o things with ye old duce and 50-55 gr generic ass soft points boom flop all rabbits, not to mention bigger "things".

The Ruger on GB looks sweet except it has the UGLIEST front sight I have ever seen. I assume and hope that it can easily be removed?
