At least 5th on Dad's side, 1st on Mom's. Mom's family moved from MN in the 1950's.

How did this all translate into "Fighting Hawks" except apathy and lack of pride?

$$ in trust funds to the University from wealthy alum/benefactors.

Ralph E and Tom R would never have let this happen, but, they had enough $$ to MAKE people listen.

3 on both sides of the fence for ND. For being an American, moms side came over on one of the original 3 ships. I think it was the Santa Maria which was lots of generations ago. At least that's what the family historian (My Aunt) has been able to track down. It got a bit fuzzy when she went to Europe to track further. Dad's Great Grandfather came over from Norway so that would be 4 on Dads side.

Lincoln, kinda...
My parents and grandparents on both sides were born here, Golden Valley area and up by Anamoose/Drake. Stepfather's family about the same in the New Town neck of the woods, I know the patriarch to that one rode the train as far as it went at the time (Ross) and then walked south until he found the Missouri River before he staked a claim and slept in a tree.

I am 3rd generation Nodak on both my Mom and Dad's side. My Dad and his parents came over in 1912 they were Germans from Russia. My Mom's parents came to Nodak from Virginia lots of Irish blood on her side. You can imagine my temper when the German and Irish blood gets to boiling..... That is why when things needed to be settled diplomatically you didn't send John, but when things needed to be settled in a not so peaceful way that is when John went. Have since calmed down quite a bit but some things still get the blood a boiling!
Still have the family farm today (Wells County) and it will be my kids' farm when we go to meet our Maker!

My grandparents were born in central ND. My great grandparents were primarily born in Germany and Russia in the 1880s. I have 1 generation behind me thus far.

Maternal great grandfather came over from Russia in 1890 and homesteaded south of Napoleon. Paternal grandfather came from the same area in 1904 and homesteaded east of Napoleon. If I look hard enough I should be able to find some relation to Carson Wentz. Pretty sure he has relatives in the Napoleon/Gackle area.

Fourth generation on my dad's side. His earlier family came from West Wisconsin. Second on my mother's side. Her parents lived in MN.

Not enough Norsk to like lutefisk, but love me some lefse.
