Does DL have a facility that could host a concert or a large convention besides the casino ?

So... the white man wants to screw the tribe again eh?

why does it need to be built next to the schools that right there is such a waste. If this is a true community facility build it in a new central location a place where development can grow around it. Hence alerus and fargo dome where built it the middle of nowhere same needs to be proposed here.

From what I get out of it the college invested 3.5 mill into this thing so they can run all their shit in it. “For the kid” is just a scapegoat. And it sounds like the college is putting their logo on everything in this building. They should keep their money and build elsewhere.

the Fargo Dome was not built out in the middle of nowhere

it was, in fact, built in a horrible place for leveraging new development based on it - mostly surrounded NDSU and airport land

the Scheels Arena is an example of middle of nowhere

Bingo that is another problem with this location, last year lrsc was one of the community colleges to be looking at closing because it was costing too much keep open. This way they can recruit new students to come to this college because we have a new facility. needs to be in a better place

First off comparing this thing to the Fargodome or the Alerus Center is just flipping stupid Apples to Apples not Apples to watermelons. This is no different then the half dozen other projects just like it being built or having just been built around the state in the past several years check out Williston Community Center, Mandans Starion Sports Complex ( oh sweet Jesus they even got corporate sponsors they must be the devil too) Bismarck Aquatic Center and so on. Oh and the Bismarck Aquatic Center is located on the BSC campus because the people planning it have functional brains and go hey let's put it next to a big giant group of people that will actually have to pay to use it so we have a built in funding sorce.

I don't know what events are actually planned for this facility, but if the College put money into it no alcohol can be sold/served there. Both the Alerus Center and the Ralph in GF were privately funded and privately owned and that is why they can sell and serve alcohol (beer, wine and hard booze.)

I think that the Alumni facility can serve wine at some functions and the President can serve alcohol when he entertains at the President's residence, but that might be the only places that can serve alcohol on the campus grounds.

Anyone have a ballpark figure about how much money would be tied up in this project at this point for feasibility studies , Engineering and architect fees ?

What Devils lake tourism ought to Worry about is getting some Water into the lake . Rather than pumping it out ..... it needs to stay somewhere in the 1450-1454 range . They keep pumping it's gonna kill the recreation

You do realize that would amount to purposely flooding private property which would leave them wide open to getting this shit sued out of them. It's one thing for it to happen naturally it's a whole other legal ball of wax if you do it on purpose.

Well I guess the park board will have to come up with money to fix the buildings they have now or move it away from the schools. Since this is supposed to be a communty rec center for ALL not just some.

Really just sad. Would have been a great facility and another attraction for the community in terms of bringing more people and businesses to town. Something that is greatly overlooked these days.

Probably just need a hug:;:deadhorse

Ouch. That's the sad thing about projects like this that don't make it off the drawing board, Good money down a rabbit hole.

I do love seeing people saying this was to fancy! Seriously if you want to see what fancy is take a look at the 60-plus million-dollar setup and Williston. When you've got a Flowrider to go surfing on in North Dakota you know you're doing pretty well.
