So I got drawn for a buck tag this year and can't get deer season out of my mind. Basically I just am curious as to what is your huckleberry for deer? Mine is my Tikka T3 25-06 shooting 117 grain bullets.

.270 ruger m77 mkII (the indented stock w/ stainless) w/ 140gr win accubonds mostly because it was the first hi-caliber rifle my dad bought me which now holds invaluable significance. The NDGF figured it was time for this killing machine to gather some rust-n-dust though ha. Butttt yea, it will never ever be replaced during rifle season and will be handed down for generations god-willing. It's awful tempting to not change out the scope after 18 years, but im not the one to dare mess with the ole saying, "if it ain't broke....."

Tikka t3 lite in 270 WSM. I don't know what grain my bullets are. Cousins husband reloads and I don't ask questions. Hopefully I can let it bark on a nice 3B3 whitetail buck.

Marlin 30-30 lever action. Way way way too many memories growing up in northern Mn to not bring it along. Shot my first deer with that thing. Back in the day I didn't even have a scope. Didn't need it in the big woods of northern Mn as you couldn't see more than 50 yards. Ahhh yes..seems like yesterday going out with my dad and brothers. Building stands in the fall. Trying to stay in a stand until mid morning, trying not to freeze and then quietly walking to the next stand. I didn't know what pushing deer was until I moved to ND ages ago. I miss the serenity of sitting in a stand..listening to the rustling of squirrels and birds, waiting for a monster to come by.
Memories. It wasn't about getting your deer. It was more about the experience. Non hunters or people that are against hunters/hunting have no clue.

Browning a-bolt medallion .270 with the boss ballistics tip. I would guess you Fargo guys should be able to hear it when I down my deer each year in western ND. Fricken loudest gun I have ever been around, but after 23 years of getting the job done it is my go to.

If I use a fire arm this year, it will be a 12ga with Sabot slugs. I shoot remington 870, open sights with slug barrel spitting Remington Premier AccuTip Sabots. Usually the 3", which is 385 grains traveling at 1900 fps.

When I get a rifle tag agian in ND, it will be my Tikka T3 in .308. I haven't shot in a while, can't remember which rounds worked the best.

I'll be shooting a Winchester Model 70 270 with Remington Core Lokt 150 grain bullets. My back up is a Savage 243. I may pull out my grandfather's old Remington 222 for antelope this year, we shall see.

Hit List-edit.jpg

I just got the fever myself. Pulled my SD card this past weekend after soaking for a month. No rifle tag for me, but the archery tag hopefully gets used on one of these two bruisers.

Shot my 270 win Ruger m77 mk II for about the last 7-8 yrs with Hornady Superformance 130 gr. SST's. Switched to the 257 wby last year with Weatherby 100 gr. spitzers and that works just dandy too.
