My grandpa recently passed away and I received his Army cap. Can any of you guys give me an insight on it? I want to have some knowledge about it for when I pass it down to my kids/grandkids.

I was thinking the same thing, so I had to lookup the years of the Korean War. That was from 1950-53. Looks like this one was made in 1958, per the pattern date 3/3/58. Looks like he was a Sgt. First Class so he likely served during the Korean War. Would be pretty cool to find a copy of his DD214 discharge papers, which are his discharge papers that would list his years of service and his MOS. Cherish that fabulous piece of history. Certain people are out there trying to re-write history so it fits their own agenda.

The county VA office would have 2 books on a veterans service that pertain to your grampa, which ever county he was from. One lists vets through WW2, and the other Korea-Vietnam. It will tell his dates and place of service and his decorations.

As said by others on here, there are places to get the records. DD214 maybe he recorded at courthouse, VA records and there are others. These records mainly his 214 will tell you a host of information you will want to pass on about him and for your information also. Maybe put his name on the internet and should be able from the internet to id that hat. Best of luck db

Go to his home county and I would bet he registered with the county upon getting discharged.
