Remy has spent all day at the vet for an ailment we currently no little about. Signs point to a bowel obstruction (which would be his second in his lifetime) but it could be anything.

And there's a chance a tumor removed from his mouth was, indeed, cancerous.

I'm a bit numb at the moment. Hopefully this is just a minor bump and he has many more years left.

6.5-years is prime for a hunting dog.

He does have an obstruction. It's near the colon, though, which means it's dang near out. Doc is going to give him IV fluids overnight in hopes his guts rehydrate and he can pass it on his own. Otherwise it's $1,000 minimum exploratory surgery and no more hunting for this season.

I realize praying for a dog is no where near as important as ending world hunger or wanting peace in the middle east. But if you can spare a couple words this evening, by all means...we'll take 'em.

Remys in my prayers to night. I sometimes prefer dogs to people.

I hug my dog so much, I think it annoys him. Good luck and hope things get back to normal soon.

Well still no poop. Took him on a half hour walk and all he had was a squirt of diarrhea. So he's going under the knife. Again. Last time he recovered at warp speed. Of course he was 1.5 years old. Hopefully his body still has the goods to kick things into high gear. I'd like to get him on one more pheasant hunt before we're buttoned up. The rate he's going, it could be his last!
