Burbot on Lake Sakakawea?! Did you know it was even a thing here? I barely didn’t and I’m super excited to have caught my first ever burbot at home in North Dakota and didn’t have to drive to somewhere Minnesota to find it!

If you have never had burbot, ling, lawyer, eelpout, etc., etc., you are missing out! This is by far the best tasting fish I’ve ever had in my life. I love walleye, but this freshwater cod has everything on walleye that you can’t find in a walleye. For you fish snobs out there, just move along. Ha, ha, ha! It’s fine if you are not interested in eating these fish, just don’t throw them on the ice to feed the birds or coyotes!
