I attempted to hit the pre-spawn bite on Lake Sakakawea after a late ice-out, but I was disappointed to find that the fish already had other things on their minds. Nevertheless, as a consolation prize, the Game & Fish allowed me to watch and film the egg harvesting process, which may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
