So when this thing blows up and someone is seriously hurt or killed will Morton County Sheriffs department be held liable for dereliction of duty because they knew and actually witnessed laws being broken but stood by and did nothing? The longer they let this go the bigger the problem will be to clean it up.

i can derelict my own balls, thank you.

Yep, thought the same Guy, she's a white person so she will do nothing to retaliate against them. My guess is that's what LEO is afraid of, it is the retaliation from the Indians. Maybe its time to play cowboys again.:gotone:

Here's what I know, Fancy Feast, Wrigley and I are headed out of town on Saturday morning as to avoid any extra Bismarck visitors this weekend. The pow wow is pretty fun to watch actually. I just don't want to be in town that day.

I believe there will be a LARGE spike of local violence, vandalism, theft, etc. over the weekend. The natives will attempt to show the white man than they mean business.

If law enforcement isn't going to subdue the crowds to an acceptable place, away from approved construction, and private and public property, then I'm all for joining a Patriot force that helps engineer the force-on-force. We don't need aggressive acts, just enough of a defense that any offense on the natives part could be construed as 'assault' and self defense.

Hopefully, there ends up being some recourse. My kids school canceled there field trips to the powwow.

Maybe the city of Bismarck could temporarily ban yard sales for the weekend. That would end the annual Rez shopping/ scavenging day.

Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Chairman Dave Archambault says Dakota Access Pipeline conflict is about respect.BISMARCK, N.D. - On the first day of the United Tribal Technical College Leadership Summit, most of the discussion was focused on the Dakota Access Pipeline protests.

Besides the contamination of their water source, one of the main things the DAPL conflict has come down to for Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Chairman Dave Archambault is respect.
"You have to respect everything around you. You have to respect the environment, respect the water, you have to respect animals, you have to respect the air that you breathe. And if you don't, there's going to be ramifications," said Archambault.
As tribes from across North Dakota and bordering states gathered at United Tribal Technical College, the Dakota Access Pipeline protests were on people's mind.
Archambault says as a sovereign nation, the Standing Rock Sioux aren't just another stakeholder.
"It's like a check in a box. We advertised it, we're sorry you didn't hear. You're just another stakeholder like everybody else. But we're not. We're a nation, and we expect to be treated like a nation," said Archambault.
Earlier in the day, Three Affiliated Tribe Chairman Mark Fox said Native Americans need to start standing on their own.
"You can't rely on the federal government. You can't rely on the state government. That is my dream one day - that we get true sovereignty, true economic sovereignty - and we no longer rely on the outside world for our persistence," said Fox.
But Archambault sees a growing movement for Native Americans.
"If you go across this world, you're going to start seeing indigenous people standing up for what's right and what's the least impact from the corporate world. What's the least impact from the government," Archambault.
Archambault said he is not interested in finding an alternative method of transporting crude oil from the Bakken should his protest be successful, but wants Americans to look for alternative and renewable sources of energy.......................... In me eyes you have to give respect to gain it. I don't see that happening right now the way they are acting!

Some of the protestors are talking about boycotting the powwow. Sounds good to me we won't have to put up with the shit storm that usually is powwow week.

I agree "ericb". I would say that the protestors are being hypocritical when they say they are protecting land, water and air. Let's see...they drive vehicles using gasoline and engine oil, they wear all sorts of clothes that is used by oil refining byproduct, Green Peace President Jill Stein uses and aerosol paint spray can on the bulldozer. So is it that they don't want the pipeline at all, reroute the pipeline? I don't get their cause or agenda. The dogs were not released onto them.....look at the video. They were on leashes and the handlers had them. Gee, here's a point...."you don't want to get bitten, stay away from the dogs". All I saw were German Shepard's on the video....I don't see Pitbull's as they claim. Archambault needs to get a clue.....Arguing sacred grounds when there is already an existing pipeline in this easement. I wonder how that pipeline magically got put in the ground?

I sure hope the protest camp gets this rain today. I'm sure the grass needs it. Just my .02!

P.S. Oh ya....even after this is done, I support the boycott to Prairie Knights Casino. I have beena frequent patron there in the past. But no more. They can keep sending me their newsletters and wasting postage, but I'm done there. I feel like crap there anyways after inhaling all that 2nd hand smoke. Talk about Lung Cancer!!! (cough, cough) Sure would hate to be a non-smoking employee there.

Lastly, I like the post about Bismarck residents not holding their rummage sales these next couple days. OR better yet, put up signs in the yards..."Proud supporter of the DAPL".

I stopped going to the casino since the Fighting Sioux fiasco. No longer will they receive any revenue source from this guy.

In reality, what would you do about this situation if you had the power? It's easy to sit and blame everyone else for this fiasco but would you want to be the first one to pull the trigger and kill or injure someone who is only guilty of being getting caught up in this movement and really has no intention of doing anything rash themselves. I can sit at home and say I would do this but could I in the long run?

Chairman Archambault see's his "sovereign nation". Most of us see his "sovereign nation" as a drain on the government and nothing more than another welfare state. Perhaps, years ago, if the white's had the foresight to see that damage that making a group of people dependent on the government we should have provided a way for them to live on their own like most of us we would have all been better off.

Chairman Fox some day wants to be free from relying on the government. If that were true do you think we would have another protest on that reservation when checks no longer were coming in.

Have the Native American's been treated fairly in their history. Absolutely not, but this pipeline is the least of their problems. Especially since a lot of that oil is coming from the Three Affiliated Tribes oil fields. When will it all end?

You say provide them a way to live on their own, isn't that a hand out? Me, I worked my ass off to get what I have, nobody offered to help me, and I didn't ask for any hand outs. But I'm the type that had the gumption to do that. These people don't have to live the way they do. All it takes is get your ass off the couch and do something different to make your life better.

What I wrote could appear as a handout. I meant it should have been done years ago while treaties were being written. Instead of herding them all onto reservations perhaps some other options may have been better. At that time in this part of the US most of the opportunity for newcomers was in agriculture. Anything would have been better than reservations and making them reliant on government assistance the rest of their and their children's children's lives.

And yes, even today it is possible for them to work hard and become successful without relying on the government. Doing that, however, might make them want to vote something other than D.

Let me tell you about the respect some of these protesters have for other people. True story. This last Friday, my sister-in-law, her daughter and granddaughter were driving to visit us in Bismarck, which is an 8 hour drive for them. They arrived at the first exit into Bismarck at 1 a.m. when a car came from the off ramp and smashed into them. They did not flip their vehicle but were lucky to survive. A scary looking guy get out of the car that hit them, and asks if they were ok. He then walked back to his badly damaged car and drove off. Luckily my sister in law got the license plate and the cops stopped him and his buddy in Mandan. They were from out of state going to the protest. They had no insurance. Piece of crap drives from out of state to protest the gas they use to drive there and don't have enough money to buy freaking insurance. He has no respect for the environment, other people, or himself by the looks of it.
