I love the tribal chairman says he's looking to filing a class action lawsuit against the state. is he an idiot or just trying to bankrupt the the tribe. if anyone has the case for a suit it's the state of ND and you can guarantee if they sue the state the people will insist on suing them back.

Obama indicates Army Corps may be considering pipeline reroute http://kfgo.com/news/articles/2016/...my-corps-may-be-considering-pipeline-reroute/

If she wins -- its going to be drawn out big time ---- if trump wins hopefully it will be closure. IMO --if I had the funds - I would throw my middle finger up --- put that SOB right across Bismarck. In fact right north of Bismarck. I would buy out what I needed to and then I would rent about 15 newman sign and I don't have to tell you what I would put on those signs. Fuem

Why does a babyboomer or a babyboomers kid or grandkid --- have to have a "DIRECT BENEFIT". Why not do something good as a whole -- that's the whole problem with our society. My dad's generation born in early 30s and my Grandpa's generation looked at something they sacrificed for the benefit of the future. I believe that is what God wants too when you look at nature. Benefit - is a safer easier cheaper way of distributing crude oil. I seen Casselton (the largest ND spill to date) and I don't what some house or family getting burnt up in a firey ball. EOS

Imo I believe if this thing gets rerouted -- you just seen the end of anybody putting money into pipelines. Warren Buffett and his friends win. Price of oil and at the pump wont raise right away - but they will as a result of less supply and more demand in the future regardless of world markets. The issue will be the cost to move and refine. More accidents will happen. Bakkken as a whole will be less productive as it will not be able to effieciently move its inventory, cheaper foreign oil will be purchased, less ND jobs, more ND taxes, ....

Well said short BUT here is the problem which I am trying point out is only a small handle full of people will benefit from this pipeline. Few things to. consider is Devils Lake was. looking to build a a refinery to produce diesel, will this pipeline help to bring a refinery to Devils lake? Why can't we lobby and out to a vote to allow ND to build a state of the art refinery that can refine our own natural resources. The injuns causing problems will be dealt with accordingly and I am not against this pipeline.

The proposed Devils Lake refinery is already a thing of the past. They decided several months ago that it is a "no go". The only refinery that is currently being worked on is the Davis Refinery out by Fryburg, just a few short miles from the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

The gofundme accound has been frozen, they do not support rioters !!

And the Govenor has announced anyone donating money to the rioters will be held accountable for crimes committed in this mess !!

Two wins for the good guys !!

Two major losses for the Eco-terrorists !!

The direct benifit is getting some of the trucks off our roads. And reducing the amount of our light sweet crude that travels by railroad.

One of the indians the other day said they had already spent all but 100 grand out of the account if my memory serves me correctly and i might have this wrong as my memory comes and goes from having mini-strokes while having last neck surgery. I hope i am wrong and we froze the whole million bucks and we can get it. Would fix them sonsabitches!
Obummer won't do anything with this and will leave it for Trump ( i hope ) to fix.

However much is left, I am just happy that they finally "froze" it.....if that is true. I have not actually seen or read anything to confirm that has happened. I think that eventually this whole thing will lose its steam, even though President Obama is speaking up and he is suggesting a reroute and wants it to play out for a couple weeks. What a leader!!! He just wants to wait to see if ol'Donald wins next week. If he does, "let'r buck baby" and get it in the ground!!!

Agree completely, anything for the benefit of many does not mean it's a direct benefit to most of the many. There is a lot of evidence that pipelines are safer and more efficient in the movement of oil than any other form of shipping. Is there a danger of a leak? Certainly, but there are dangers in other forms of shipping as well. Trains do derail more often than pipelines leak it seems to me. What happens when a pipeline leaks into a river? The pipeline leak on the Yellowstone River at Glendive a few years ago was a mess for awhile. Glendives water supply was interrupted for awhile but was quickly (dependent on your definition of quickly) cleaned up and repaired. Minimal damage to the river as cleanup was done quickly and thoroughly. From Glendive to Williston there is a lot of farmland irrigation. I don't remember reading anything about farmers not using the river water for irrigation that summer. Oil leaks are never fun to deal with but that doesn't mean we are in a position to end all use of oil in the near future.

Future pipelines? What guarantee does any company have that after following all legal steps and securing all the permits and approvals that they will be allowed to complete that project as planned. This was not a 15 minute planning session for this pipeline. The government was heavily involved in the route planning and approving.

Do people have a right to protest? Yes, however in this case I would be more sympathetic to the protesters had they been voicing their concerns from the get go. Had they attended all the hearings and presented their concerns and evidence. Had they then left those hearings feeling that nobody had listened to them, I could understand the protest now. To protest when the pipeline gets close is pretty much like shutting the barn-door after the horses have left.

Who should foot the bill for this mess? Let's see, we had a federal judge issue an order that the DAPL met all the requirements. Followed by 3 federal agencies saying "Wait a minute, I don't agree with the judge. The state did their job in the application, the pipeline did their job in the paperwork. The county gets involved to assure there is safety for all the residents of the county, including the protesters. Their is some question, at least in my mind, whether the leadership of the tribe has done their job. For me the majority of the funding should come from the federal government and the tribe. Now since quite a bit of the resources of the tribe originate with the federal government we are back to the feds. The problem with that is the feds get their money from us as does the state.

I guess the only direct benefit I'm going to get from all this is if Morton County pays all the bills. I don't live in the county so those taxpayers will suffer and since I pay taxes to the state and more than enough to the feds, Morton County paying the bill is my only benefit. Sound fair? I think not for anyone other than the protesters who have to have someone paying their bills.

One question: who on here will benefit personally when this DAPL comes online

All of North Dakota. With DAPL ND production will be much more competitive against the rest of the oil producing regions. The cost to ship on rail is killing jobs in ND and is depressing our economy. If we can compete with the world maybe we will start seeing more jobs come back instead of drilling in Texas. DAPL has a huge effect on the ND oil industry.

New refineries in ND are not a good investment. There is no additional demand needed in ND to consume the refined products. Any new refinery will have to compete against the established suppliers. Any new refinery would need to find a new or under supplied market to supply. The DAPL pipeline will save lives and reduce pollution.

If it lessens the odds of a train of rail cars filled with oil from derailing and burning.....if it keeps my Daughter and eldest Granddaughter from being locked inside their Casselton daycare for fear of the dangerous black clouds of black smoke threatening the town...... I and everyone else will!!!!!

http://www.startribune.com/ntsb-400-000-gallons-of-crude-spilled-in-casselton-train-wreck/239948631/

If it decreases tanker trucks on the roads so less young people like my nephew are killed in traffic collisions..... We ALL will !!!!

Humiliation is when you get your gym shorts yanked down in Jr high during a rousing game of dodge ball. Racism, and name calling is non PC, and bully type activity, but I guess so is violent antidapl protesting.

I agree with you bigj, it's tasteless, of which I am guilty of, and apologize.

Warren Buffet wouldn't agree with you. For a reason. How much monetary support is he putting into the protest?

One question: who on here will benefit personally when this DAPL comes online

Me! I have 3 hunting buddies who work (different jobs) for a large oil company that purchased a large portion of the carrying capacity of this pipeline. If the pipeline is completed it will provide some additional job security to them during this period of low oil prices. That in turn will help them to chip in for more gas and beer on hunting and fishing trips that we share. :;:cheers
