So I need to get a new battery for my F250 (gas engine). Has anyone had any experience with the durastart batteries from Runnings?

I know there are only 3 battery makers but just curious if anyone has had any issues with these batteries.

I buy batteries based on price and who offers the longest pro rated warranty, have been buying the American freedom batteries from Hedals last few years 80 month pro rated replacement warranty and 2 year free replacement IIRC.
Have been wanting to check the battery doctor store in Mandan to see what they offer for price and warranty. Lots of people buy the blemish or repaired batteries from Interstate with good luck and near half price as new.

A Vehicle battery is one area i dont seem to cut corners; Interstate seems to be a bit spendy, but their multi-year warranty program impressed me out of nowhere when i went to test a 3-4 year old battery and i just paid the pro-rated difference.. Totally caught me off-guard by their honesty, but just put another one in a different vehicle a month ago.. Im a loyal sucker for a lad that shoots me straight looking out for his company's potential life-long customer tho!

I'very had good luck with the Walmart Everstarts and Enermax. Interstate has been good to me as well. I like Fleet Farm, but have had bad luck with their Roadrunner battery. I've also bad good luck with Car quest and NAPA batteries.

Why does it seem like the OEM battery last 7-10 years, then every replacement battery after that it seems like it is half as long.

Just the opposite on OEM batterys. Last one month over warranty. I get my replacement batterys from Fleet Farm, Biggest I can get and they last way beyond warranty. My battery for my 250 has 1100 cold cranking amps as compared to 650 OEM.

I have usually ran Carquest Batteries. My last battery i decided to take the plunge and buy an Optima. That is one strong battery. Has 4 years on her so far and no signs of slowing down at all.

Lincoln, kinda...
I'm with Sweeney. I get great life out of the battery in all my new stuff, and then get ~3/4 of the same service out of the "best" batteries money can buy after that. It confuses the hell out of me.

As do women.

I just buy one from whatever store is nearest to where my pickup leaves me stranded. It's worked out pretty well over the years.

That works too.

I have an interstate deep cycle that has been working well, I'm looking at cost/warranty/etc..

The durastart has a 2 year replacement and a 48 month pro rated warranty and about $40 less than interstate for a comparable battery.

knocks on wood - the current battery hasn't stranded me yet but it barely wanted to turn over yesterday after work. It's over 6.5 years old and I know it's getting weaker.

Thanks all, will be making a few phone calls.

We have had good luck with them in tractors and vehicles. Get about 2 years less out of them than a john deere battery.

I always had great luck with AC Delco Freedom battery from Kmart and probably other vendors. I don't know where you can get them anymore. Maybe from a car dealership. Idk if they are still made.

I literally just replaced the Interstate battery in my kids truck (my old one) yesterday. Took it down to Interstate, it had a bad cell. Battery was 6 years old. They gave me $15 credit, which was the remainder of the pro-rated warranty, not sure how that worked out for me but whatever.

$150 later I'm on the road. Yeah, they are expensive but I think 6 years is a decent life for a battery, also when it's ass cold outside and they do the replacement work....that's worth an extra $20 all day long.

I had a 2001 Dodge Ram that i finally replaced the OEM battery after 10 years. It was still working fine but i figured i better replace it. Ordered the same battery from dodge and sold the truck 6 years later with the same battery still in it. If only Dodge transmissions lasted as long as the batteries.
