I was out with 2 K-drills on Saturday. they did well but there was only 8-12" of ice. The newer drill had issues towards the end of the morning...started kicking out of the speed setting once it was under heavy torque (towards end of hole). He called Acme and they'll stand behind the drill since it's less than a year old. Drilled a lot of holes but not sure how many you'd get once the ice is considerably thicker. Still don't have any regrets with my 10" Eskimo z71. Knock on wood.

The cheaper models from dewalt don't have the torque to handle it. The kdrills call for 725 plus lbs. I have that model and just bought the model that has 1200lbs. I'll see how that one works tomorrow.

The most I have drilled into was 18 inches with the 725lb model. It had no problem even without cleaning out the hole half way through.

My 42v Ice Gator with an 8 inch Nils is around 25-26 pounds. The shaft on the 8 inch power point is about 6 inches longer than a normal auger though. It avoids needing an extension most of the time.

At that weight I'll gladly change batteries a couple time per day. That's not much less than a gas auger.

I just looked and the 9.0 batteries are $199!!! 2 batteries+drill+kdrill bit is getting awefully spendy in my opinion.

K drill is expensive imo. Just get a 6" lazer auger with clam plate and run with Dewalt 20v lithium ion batteries. Wallah

Depends on the kind of fishing you do. But this should work for most people and half the price.

I've got the 71cc Eskimo. That thing is a beast! K drill needs a 10" and then it will be unstoppable
