Rent an earth auger for $25-30 and save yourself the time and hassle.

I only have four to dig in so manual is fine.

buy a $25 unit and keep it - you are going to need it again

I borrowed one on occasion for like two decades before I bought one

I was a moron - I use it every couple years - sans hassle of borrowing

Well that's the dilemma I found myself in. I have four posts to put in and even the fanciest of these tools is around $40. I just didn't want it to be sitting in the way for the rest of my time here.

Ours is at the farm or you certainly could have used it. We don't have enough room in town either to store all that we use once in a great while.
Did you have a locate done so you don't hit any wires?

Looks like I tracked one down. Thank you to everyone for your offers. PM's have been returned.

any wires?

I did. The majority of the fence went in last year so I knew there weren't any wires there but I called to cover my ass. I have one section to finish off between the house and garage. Then the pups can roam free.

I appreciate it Bobkat! I think I found one for use though. If anything changes in the next couple hours, I'll let you know.
