The tension will be thick at that game, Hope we can stick it to them. Talked to my boy tonight and didn't know he was down there , He went to the Knights VS Lightning game tonight and said it was a good one. He said there were a lot of ND people down there , green jerseys everywhere.

Does he have a ticket for tomorrow - I hope! Game should be interesting. U Minn is ranked 5 and UND is ranked 17, but I think when these two teams play all rankings are off the table. Remember this goal by Robbie Bina in 2007.

They have tickets but I didn't think to ask where. He is with his brother in law and they are early birds at ticket sales so If I had to guess it would be Ice level right behind 1st and 3rd period MN goalie. It's a tradition with them. Kind of like me parking right next to the shopping cart return at walmart every time , Just not as fun. One of the best overtime college hockey goals I can remember.

Davey, didn't happen for your son and his Bro in law for seating. The arena had seating on both sides but only on one end - UND's for 1 and 3. Great game, great outcome and UND deserved to win. Out shot UM prolly 2 to 1 and had the puck in Minn zone more than the reverse.

What was REALLY amazing was that of the 9,500 tickets sold, more than 9,000 had to have been to SIOUX fans. I kept joking that the ticket takers hadn't let the Minn fans in yet. It was a sea of green and white!

Did learn something. Was talking to Pres. Mark Kennedy and he told us that the REA bought a package of 4 Hall of Fame Games for the SIOUX. Two years ago UND played BC in Madison Square Garden and this year UM in LV. I think in 2020 the game is in Nashville and 2022 has not been decided yet. But all the pregame hype on the jumbotron and all the in rink announcements were done just like in the REA. Absolutely NOTHING for Minnesota.

Yea that's the first thing I notice when the pregame started , They ended up in the corner a couple rows up from ice level looking over MN goalies left shoulder for two periods. Better seats anyway IMO .

I was wrong when I said that there were 9,500 seats sold. We figured out that the 9,500 number was when the venue is used for a concert or the like when seating on ice level is available. For hockey the seating is 7,500 and there were over 7,400+ tickets scanned in. Still the sea of green was IMPRESSIVE.

Schlosman mentioned that Seatle might be in contention for 2022. I couldn't swing the Vegas game since my wife is 7 mo prego and didn't want to go. I figured I'd stay on her good side and sit this one out with her but we are hoping to make the Nashville one already!

Made a mistake ... #4 Minn State is NOT in the NCHC. I believe it is in the old WCHA.

But looking further down in the rankings, Miami of Ohio is ranked #20 ... so the NCHC has 3 of the top 10 schools and 5 of the top 20 schools in the ranking. The unranked NCHC schools are: Western Michigan, Nebraska Omaha and Colorado College.

I think CC is going to be tougher than they are getting credit for. They have really turned their program around over the last few years. That may not bump them up in conference rankings much because of the stiff NCHC competition but on a national level I believe they are being under ranked.

Also, check out gopherpucklive.com. Some of them lost their minds over that game. Theres a few level headed guys on there but most of them are lunatics. One of them blaming the ice conditions for the gophers loss...followed up with a quick reply explaining to him that both teams played on the same ice.

Read in the GF Herald that UND is going to start bringing back former players to dress up in hockey gear for warm ups and stand at the blue line with the team for the National Anthem! NICE!! Tonite vs Wisconsin it will be Jim Archibald!! Dang..wish I could make it to the game!! Boy was he a instigator back in the day!! He NEVER backed down from a brawl and was usually in the midst of it.

Jim Archibald was introduced before Friday night’s UND-Wisconsin game.

He energetically skated a couple of laps in full uniform and pads, gesturing to the roaring Ralph Engelstad Arena crowd.

At the end of his laps, he signaled to the current UND team that he was going to skate down the blue line and give them fist bumps.
He did that.
And in typical Archibald style, those fist bumps were rather aggressive.
Archibald, the former UND captain and all-time leader in penalty minutes, then stood on the blue line with the team during the national anthem.
“Those fist bumps were pretty hard,” UND senior Rhett Gardner said. “I was standing beside him on the blue line. I said, ‘Do you think you can go first shift?’ He was chomping at the bit. He would have loved to be out there.”
After the anthem, he skated one more lap in the zone and waved to the crowd. Then, he skated off the ice.
Before he left, he had a quick message for UND coach Brad Berry.
He told Berry that his team better get off to a good start, or Berry’s going to hear from him.
“That’s the beauty of him,” Berry said. “That’s why he was successful and that’s why the teams he played on were successful.”
Yes, more than 30 years have passed since Archibald played at UND, but he still displayed the same fire and passion that became synonymous with his playing career.
And apparently, it rubbed off on UND on Friday night.
The Fighting Hawks came out and scored just 3 minutes, 29 seconds into the game and easily handled Wisconsin 5-0.
After the game, the players talked about seeing Archibald skate one final shift -- the start of a new tradition where former players will be introduced during starting lineups and stand on the blue line with the current team during the national anthem.
Freshman defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker, who scored his first-career goal against the Badgers, said: ““That really set the tone for our game there.”
Gardner, who had his first-career hat trick Friday night, said he loved seeing Archibald, who is from Saskatchewan like Gardner.
“That was special,” Gardner said. “We talked with him before. You can tell that guy bleeds green and he’s a true Sioux. We were honored to have him here.
“He’s a Sask guy. He’s from Craik, which is 45 minutes from where I’m from. I always knew about him. He played junior in Moose Jaw. Brad showed us the big Wisconsin brawl a couple days ago, so we got some history on him. He’s an entertaining guy and very energetic.”
Freshman goalie Adam Scheel had his first-career shutout Friday, stopping all 24 shots against the Badgers.
“I thought that was really cool,” Scheel said of Archibald’s introduction. “That just shows the culture of North Dakota hockey, always honoring our past. We take a lot of pride in guys who played before us and made the way for this program.”
Some of Archibald’s former teammates were in the building, too.
Minnesota Duluth head coach Scott Sandelin, the best man in Archibald’s wedding and a teammate of his for three seasons, was in The Ralph to scout players for the World Junior Championship.
And Berry, who watched the pregame event from the bench, played two seasons with Archibald during college.
“I absolutely loved it,” Berry said. “I was fortunate enough to play with him at North Dakota. He was a captain. I learned a lot from him not only about individual things, how to grow up and be a man, but how to be a North Dakota player and the attributes you have to have. For him to skate a couple of laps and get one more shift in, it brought back old memories.
“And I know, for sure, that he was chomping at the bit to play a shift or two in the game. It’s great to have him back and honor him.”

Ouch. I recall never ever leaving a game early in my 5 years at UND...Tonight's game i'd have left at or near the end of the 2nd. There was obviously no hope whatsoever. That hurt!!
