Eating fish eggs

Has anyone eaten fish eggs from Pike ? I need another batch for the smoker and thought for the fun of it I'd give the eggs a try again. last time I made an attempt they had absolutly no taste.

I have fried perch eggs and those are tasty.

I worked in Alaska. They brine the eggs, dehydrate them before cooking I believe

I read they are good for your overall health when eaten with moderation but could be tough on the big toe as they are loaded with Purine . At least I'd be able to tell if it's gout that's been making my "market toe" hurt this winter.

It's true. I was there and impressed by what I saw.

Have not had pike, Paddlefish and Salmon, tuna must be brined in something kinda wierd when eating on cracker.

Kickumup and I tried some perch eggs once and weren't that impressed, maybe we didn't cook them right. They were eatable when chased with some beer but then again I think many things can become appetizing with the right amount of liquid courage. I would try them again if I was with someone who convinces me they know how to cook them up.

I’ve dabbled in a number of species. Some are God awful. Tasteless is the most one can hope for.

Made pike caviar once, edible but not worth it. Fried perch eggs weren't great either. There's some fish egg soup id like to try yet but gotta find someone else willing to eat it.

I was at the Chart House in Phoenix and they had three kinds of caviar at their 30 ft long salad an appetizer bar. All the caviar tast like crap. I decided those rich people eat it because it's expensive and they suffer through the culinary torture to impress people.

I save pike eggs occasionally and use them to make dehydrated dried food for my aquarium snails. Like algae tablets but with some added protien and fats.

I knew and old german from Bowdle that said to fry them up with some scrambled eggs. Never tried it.

I've tried to feed some perch eggs to my dogs and the farm cats, they don't really eat them. My old lab used to love getting perch eggs while I cleaned fish.
