I bought a Brunton spotter last year and I've been very happy with it. Got it off camofire for a darn good price.

Yes shop around, you can buy a used older Swaro 80 mm HD that looks like new for around 1250 "Silver model" I bought my newer Swaro 80 mm HD "green one" with the $250 swaro cover for $1850. HD isn't everything, helps with digiscoping a little is about it.
One thing with German glass if you buy it used, 5-10 years from now you can usually get what you bought it for or make money. I've done it several times.

On my swaro binos and spotter the HD is a huge difference from non HD imo.

If you're happy with vortex, then by all means recommend it but I'm not jumping on that bandwagon. During the day you may not notice a difference but when it is dusk and dawn I'll stick with my preference of high end glass. Majority of the big deer that I've watched are in the worst light and I want my clarity. Buddy of mine purchased a zen Ray and I'm not impressed at all. We are entitled to our opinions.

Enslow, I'm curious what you don't like about your VX6. I've been very pleased with mine.

Well i was hoping it would compare to my z3 glass. Not even close but it is still a good scope.

call and talk with the vendors they have MAP pricing where they cant advertise for less than what is set for them to sell at but by talking to them you can work a better deal alot of times

I am very happy with the Vortex Viper HD I bought. I realize there is better glass out there but it suits my needs for what I do. Bought the "floor model" from Camera Land NY for $479 if I remember right. Hard to beat that deal for a great mid-range quality piece of glass.

Unless your hunting sheep, bigger is better when it comes to spotters.

Redesigned razors just came out so you can get the big 85 for good price. I think the 65 can be had for a real good price.
