Reagan thought "arming Iran was a good idea"?

He was the one who campaigned on punishing Iran immediately after he took the oath of office. Which is why they very quickly gave up the hostages after he occupied the Oval Office.

However, he did actually help arm Iraq, who was at war with Iran back then.

Also, I am not quite following why you keep saying we put the current administration into power in Iran. The way I remember it is that they were not fans of the Shah and had a religious uprising that put the current terrorists in charge. Yes, we were friends with the Shah and Iran back then, we even had military listening posts on their border with the old USSR. What am I missing here?
He wasnt doing what we said so we thought we could control the fanatics better

Iran contra ring a bell.

The Iran–Contra affair (Persian: ماجرای ایران-کنترا; Spanish: Caso Irán-Contra), also referred to as the Iran–Contra scandal, the Contragate, Iran Initiative, or simply Iran–Contra, was a political scandal in the United States that centered on arms trafficking to Iran between 1981 and 1986, facilitated by senior officials of the Reagan administration.

The only way we win this is kill every one. Women kids all of them and start over and make it the 51st state. Other wise we are just breeding the next generation of S vest

Doesnt it need to be 90% enrichment to make weapons? Its easy to dig pay back when your standing in back with nothing on the line chirping.....
Yup 90% bomb grade two weeks away to complete, Israel cleared the road from the beginning, and kept pounding air defenses and mobil missile launchers.

Israel didnt clear shit they used our weapons with our training. If they had to stand on their own they would be an after thought and the world would be a safer place

Ah yes, that one. I'll be honest and say that I never really understood that whole deal. Iran basically wanted something in return for the hostages they had freed. I'd have preferred the campaign promises of returning the Iranian held hostages and then these in Lebanon through violence, if necessary.

I am of the opinion you can't negotiate in good faith with people like those running Iran today.

I agree you cant take a word they say for truth. So where does that leave us stuck in another endless war with no goal in site. We dont have the stomach any more to do whats needed so better to not get started and protect our borders.

Well, now that we are there, I think anything short of regime change and complete obliteration of their nuclear program is going to be a colossal mistake that will come back to haunt us.

Before now, the Straight of Hormuz was considered an international corridor for unfettered commercial travel. While we don't import much, if any, oil from that area nowadays. Trump sounds willing to let Iran tax every barrel of oil that Iraq, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain ship through there.

If Iran gets to keep their regime, nuclear program with partially enriched uranium, and the ability to tax other country's oil, they are the unquestionable winners after all this.

Kurt might be onto something, Trump got the Beach Boys to allow the rewording of the Barbara Ann song and lyrics to "Bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran".

Trump now demands the Bomb Iran song be played on every fighter jet dropping bombs on Iran
Next thing you know Trump will say he wrote the darn song!

Thats why i asked what the exit plan is and what you said is the only answer. If we leave with any part of them intact and let them tax its a big L. The question is will we be better of before or after when this ends?

Solution maybe?? Let me know what you think:
Take and give Kargh Island to Kuwait. It would make a nice forward monitoring/tactical base for the USA.
"Give" the entirety of the Strait of Hormuz to the Arabs. Set them up to defend it from future Iranian aggression. A joint-defense treaty with them (and other oil-buying countries) would be nice, but I'm sure the dems/RINOS would try to block that.
Tell Iran to sign the bottom line, or we will just forge their signature ourselves with Joes autopen.

And collect all the nuclear enriched uranium and figure out where it exactly came from, from what I understand they can tell where and who made it, would be interesting to know for sure

Because if we kept it, that would be called imperialism, which is politically forbidden in todays world politics. That's why we give the island to Kuwait and have a base in a sweet spot in the arena, and let the arab nations handle any aggression in the strait or on the island on their own, or at least attempt to handle it
