Was down to Audabon fishing tonight, what's up with all the idiots pulling out the big houses with their trucks. Where I fished I had 8" of ice on the measuring stick and found one spot with 4". I love to fish, but I won't give my life for it. I bet there was 30 to 40 rigs out there tonight with truck and wheel house.

wasn't there just a picture of a wheel house through the ice on Audubon?

Unreal. Hope this doesn't turn into a shit show. If anymore rigs go through the ice the USFW could pull the plug on fishing on the WMA.

I'd say with the weather forecast (which they are most likely banking on, literally) they should be ok from here on out.

I was there last night too. Lots of people driving on. I was abou 50 yards off shore in 14 feet of water, we had about 10 inches of ice. We marked a few fish. My buddy had two bites but neither had a good hook set, probably just gumming the minnows. No fish for us.

That's crazy my truck would have to have an ejection seat for me to drive out now.! Was out on a lake last night that had between 8 and 10 inches of ice but only the bottom 2 were good ice the rest was all cloudy from the warm days we had. I've never understood why guys love that lake so much the fishing never seems all that great there especially with all the new lakes pumping out much higher volumes of big perch and eyes.

15 inches = truck is a rule that provides for a buffer. 8 inches your at the edge of the buffer. Audubon isn't known for consistent ice to begin with. It's those boomers out of whynot they just have to put a castle on da ice!!!

Went fishing at Clear lake today, drove out with a 4 wheeler hit 2 slush pockets that made the butt pucker up. Ice where we fished was only 8 inches. The one pocket wasn't no longer than maybe 30 feet long but there was water in our tracks that steamed pretty good for quit awhile afterwards. Fishing wasn't the best. :(

Someone put one through trying to drive on at skunk either today or yesterday. Sunk it up to the windows.

Would of been cheaper to drive over the fence instead of around it. Unfortunately this could be the year we hear of a few drowning's. Come on people use that grey matter between your ears!! Don't be that guy.;:;badidea

I fished Patterson pretty heavy the last 4 days. I have been driving the little ranger out there as the ice is only 8 inches in the place I fished, however sure as shit some clown, with a 4 wheeler in the box, had his pickup out next to the reed bed.
We actually caught a bunch of fish, but only cleaned 4 keepers. Went again last night, same area, ice still just 8 inches, and caught nothing. I was graphing them, but couldn't get a bite.

PS. if you take your dogs with, try to keep them away from the other anglers(more specifically, their stuff), and if you take your kids with, try to keep them from running the snow mobile 8 feet from my fish house for the entire 4 hours we fished that spot. I could feel the vein in my forehead pulsing.

Fished a lake that had generally had 10 to 12 by yesterday but once you got to the west side where it had stayed open longer the ice dropped below 6 inches and water would gush out of the holes when you drilled them.
