And just like that...all this was much ado about nothing. Can't say I'm disappointed though.

    Property taxes

That literally makes no sense. To those who inherited land without minerals because gramps sold them, sorry...them's the breaks. Maybe gramps was a better businessman than a farmer when he made the decision to keep the land at the cost of those worthless minerals?
  4. Allen

    Property taxes

What the hell? Are you seriously talking about stealing one's property and giving it to someone else? Most of the time in private sales, the land was offered up at $XXX per acre including minerals. OR, you could choose to buy just the surface acres at $XXX - $XX. Most of the people buying...

    More Snow Next Week?

As someone once mentioned to me "even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while". But no, not really. The GFS is one of the top two global models out there. It has times where it performs very well.

    Wildlife stress

To add to WJ's thoughts, if you have been planting trees of flavorful varieties, you already know deer browse the heck out of trees during the late fall through early spring each year 11-12 years ago I lost a cherry tree to a hungry doe and her fawns. Dang tree was a good 4 inches in diameter...

    TSLA time to buy?

CAH, you didn't mention the timeframe of your calls. I am pretty convinced that long-term (6 months to a couple of years) this is a bad deal, but nothing ever moves linear in the stock market, so it's entirely possible you have a winning ticket. I guess we shall see.
  8. Allen

    TSLA time to buy?

I want neither the vehicle or the stock. TSLA stock went hog wild almost from the get-go because of the novelty of an electric full-sized car. That novelty has now worn off and the stock price is going to start reflecting profits and losses, just like every other stock out there. That means...

    Bitcoin

Yet another "we can see trouble in the bitcoin mining industry" kind of article. https://finance.yahoo.com/video/bitcoin-miners-power-down-winter-174946484.html Which, again makes me wonder how the crypto currency world will handle a lack of miners taking care of the transactions?

    More Snow Next Week?

I wouldn't get too worried just yet. The GFS and Euro are about a state apart on its path. One puts it on a path from Pierre to Jamestown, the other has it over Sioux Falls with a big nothingburger for the vast majority of ND. Lots of narrowing down on that will be done over the coming days...

Will all this snow raise water elevation?

I do not know where you are located, but here in Bismarck and the vast majority of the western 2/3 of the state saw snow to water ratios of 10-12 inches of snow to 1 inch of water. Anytime you get snow in that range it's widely considered "heart attack" snow.

    Diesel Fuel Expert Advice Needed

Also, depending on the setup, a partially filled tank may be subject to condensation over time. So a fuel/water separator isn't a bad idea either. Granted, I am not at all sure how tolerant your setup is for fuel quality, but water is generally considered bad for injectors. All that being...

    Diesel Fuel Expert Advice Needed

Yes, diesel that is stored for a long time, such as backup generators, should be treated with a biocide to prevent bacterial growth in the tank. Seems kind of odd when you first think about it, but certain bacteria thrive on diesel fuel and they are known to degrade the quality of the fuel and...

So, you really are that damn dumb. I am talking about overall tax burden and you focus on just property taxes. You have to understand something, and that's govt is going to get the money needed to pay for govt services. Whether that comes as property tax, income tax, fuel tax, ????....they...

    Property taxes

The Legacy fund is primarily money taken from a select group of North Dakotans. That has never been a good way to fund anything. Funding sources (taxes) need to be derived from a majority of the population, not a select few. Once you make them poor, they will eventually get to your segment of...

It's not really a "which site..." question. I certainly don't have any worthwhile insight to the crime, but I have been following it. The cops in this and just about any other high profile crime don't release details because they can use those details to eventually catch the criminal. Be patient, I am guessing the a-hole in this crime...

Back when I got out of the Corps in 1992, I bought my 25-06 and shot the pretty standard Remington CoreLokts. They killed things just fine for the most part, but there was one really nice buck I had to put a few shots into at over 400 yds, none of which exited the deer or had really great...
