The lake froze over last night at Yates. Still 15 degrees as I type. Supposed to get below 0 tonight. That might put a decent layer? With low lake levels the channel will be an issue no matter how cold. Might be able to fish the intake and Cattail bay very soon.

Well it was still open in Mobridge today but we'll see after tonight. With the thick fog this morning it should have been a duck hunters wet dream.

Spent the weekend in Mobridge and when I got back to Yates Sunday it sure looks like there is some nice ice out there. 3 full days of and average of I'd say 15 degrees and it was -3 at 9 am today.

I think this chart is pretty accurate and I'd bet that after today, there's at least 4 if not 6 inches in this area. But the currant will be an issue so you better know where the main channel is and proceed with caution, and this goes for ALL YEAR with that currant!!

Correct. We fished on the west side if Winona late last year and it was still only 12 inches.

There is strong current in that area as well. Back when the water was down in the 00's it would be 12" until you hit the channel and then it would be 4" And that's right below Kenel South of Hunkpapa a mile or so. I fell through walking and know of a dumbazz driving all over finally went through recrossing the channel.

There must be a lot of current as it opened up at Yates and Winona. Still iced over just south of town though. I never did have time to see how thick it was.

Yesterday the 10th, there were 2 groups out on the channel break between Winona and Yates. Both had side by side utv. They weren't there today, at least not by 1:30.

My brother said there were shacks all over down at Mobridge.

I talked to a guy I trust who fished old Kenel. That's right south of State Line on west side of OAHE. He claims the ice was 10 to 14 inches and he also heard Mobridge is doing good.
