Different kind of hunting but these dogs are badass!! Seen it first hand. You do NOT want one after you!!
Mine did that last weekend. Chest high in a slough. Shot one other marked it no way dog could see it. Got half way there he brought me the bird. Most of these dogs will never upland hunt. Completely contradictory to all the trainingI'd like to see a really good dog retrieve in some of the stuff I hunt. For example, we knocked a bird down off the edge of a field where a finger comes up from the river. It went over the edge down a ravine I'd need a rope to get down and I'd never get up. Or find one in chest thick cover on the river bottom where there's no end and it goes down where there were just a couple hundred birds.
A dog goes downwind of a bird and finds them all the time. So a dog finding a down bird is nothing special. That's how dogs find birdsMine did that last weekend. Chest high in a slough. If they can see and if there is any wind which last Sunday there was no wind it was hot and he could not see the bird. But either way having guided for pheasants for 15 years I might have seen a dog find one or two. A quad with a couple retired birds and a few re entries is more impressive than running around finding pheasants they stumble fuck onto.A dog goes downwind of a bird and finds them all the time. So for 15 yrs you lost birds because it was hot and dry and no wind. Now you have a new dog and it's finds a down bird when it was hot and no wind. Just wondering did a dog hunt the bird up or did a hunter kick the bird up?If they can see and if there is any wind which last Sunday there was no wind it was hot and he could not see the bird. How did you even make that story up. I never said anything like that….. My friend scared the bird up it flew from left to right I killed it and the dog found it. Any more brain busters…..So for 15 yrs you lost birds because it was hot and dry and no wind. Now you have a new dog and it's finds a down bird when it was hot and no wind.
