Planning to try to catch some salmon trolling tomorrow morning, no riggers so well be trying shallow. Never done this before. Plan to put in at govt bay. Any suggestions on what to use or where to start out would be appreciated. Ive heard they like jointed rapalas? I was gonna start out in 15 to 20ft of water. Do I need to get the cranks near the bottom, or will they come up and chase?
Did you do any good ? It's too late this year but if you ever catch the salmon bug I have a VN Lund 21 Barron I/O with 3 downriggers 9.9 kicker W/ trollmaster and lots of other jazz rigged for salmon. want to trade for something smaller.

Yea it's really weird, when we got to the ramp there were two guys loading ahead of us. Figured they knocked them out as well. When we pulled up they walked over to ask how we did, said they didn't catch a thing! They thought we were full of crap when we said we had our 25..until I started pulling them out of the death well. Usually fished the north side most of the summer but that day we were on the south side on Friday.

I saw you leaving NCM on Friday, I was hoping it wasn't winterized but I guess you just confirmed!
Yes...sad day! I store it in Towner, old Winger cheese factory...he had the facility open this weekend for folks to get their boats/classic cars put away. Pulling those 3 31 series batts was great for my 60 year old back...not!

You know you don't have to pull them. Just fully charge and disconnect them. They'll be fine even in cold storage. Maybe stop in January and put the charger on them to top them off. I do it every year with no issues.

Speaking of batteries, are you still liking your LiTimes? Have you been able to kill them in a day?

Like them A LOT! No, not any sign at all of loss of power in a day. My only regret is that I didn't get the Bluetooth models. I guess if I bought a new quest trolling motor they have a battery monitoring option that shows up on your graph when linked. Might be going that route.

Nice, thanks for the info. I'm going to pick up 3 of them on black friday if the price is right.

Hey @Weekender, I've had LiTime in my boat for a few weeks now and love mine as well. I run the 165AH (group 31) for my 12v TM and put over 35 hours on it before it dropped below 40%. 4 of those hours were in the wind yesterday where she was nearly running full tilt.

One thing I've noticed is the TM indicator & the on board indicator will both say my TM battery is at 100% when it's actually below 50%. Food for thought, @5575... but I'd guess the new graphs/TMs are better at reading lithium than the old school stuff I'm using.

The LiTime app has been easy to use and as long as your charger is on the battery, or you have power connected thru the TM, the bluetooth will connect. If you leave it all unhooked for a few days it can take a hot minute or a few tries, but once the power is fully connected it's not really an issue.
