Darn tough and smart wool are both excellent. There are different models offered by each brand so get the right models for each of your applications. I like the low cut running socks for tennis shoes. The low cut midweight hiking socks are nice for tennis shoes or low cut boots. Heavy weight long length socks for muck boots in extreme cold.

Not sure what smart wool is but my bride tells me real wool is the best so she stocks up for both of us. No matter how cold, it is , if I am prepared I am not cold anywhere as long as I am able to keep moving and keep gloves on. For sitting, I dress light and sit on a 12 volt heated seat cover with a 12 volt electric blanket over my lap and legs and a warm coat. I sit in the same spot so just leave a battery out there. GI issue bunny boots with thin sox for sitting and a good pair of leather choppers with wool gloves or mittens inside Ice fishing outside is the only time I get cold because of wet hands. For gutting or cleaning fish in wither I use those cheap cotton stretchy gloves from harbor freight with XL rubber gloves over the top. Nice and warm and if they do get cold , dip them in warm water.

I have been using the Hollow compression socks for about a year now. There are many good socks out there, but when it comes to compression socks they are headed and shoulders above the rest. The worst compression socks I have ever used were from Sanford Health Supply.

At “deer camp” a single pair of Darn Tough socks feel the same after the fourth day as they did first.

They don’t go to heck after a single day like your usual everyday sock. It’s like putting on a fresh pair each day.

They’re worth it by a long shot.

You wear the same socks for a week?
No, but 2-3 days. So two pair will easily carry a week. No stink, no lack of cushion, they’re insanely consistent day after day.

And I’m the kind of guy who will sometimes swap regular everyday socks at noon if I’m working on a project in the yard. Can’t stand moist/flattened socks.

Used to take a pile of socks to deer camp, not anymore.

Socks like that are priceless if you’re someone that does backcountry hunting as well. Space and weight are things that come into huge play when you’re trying to account for hunting gear and still having enough food to get through a 7-10 day backcountry hunt.

What about your underwear?? Don't answer that!
Yes they dont smell and when you are backcountry hunting having only a couple pair of socks cuts weight. They have a life time warranty i dont use i get about 4 years out of one pair of socks. I have three pair that i rotate through for the week of work. They are cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I have heavy weight for ice fishing or hunting when its really cold the mid height hikers are my daily wear. A couple pair of merino underwear and dude wipes when on week long trips to the mountains

No experience with Hollow, but I have several pairs of Darn Tough. The warranty is no Joke. After three years of wearing two pairs, I got holes in the toes, and sent them in. Within a week, I had a coupon for two equal price pairs, and free shipping. I wear them every day at work, and no sock has compared. Comfortable, warm in winter, and cool enough in summer. I usually wear a lighter pair in summer, and heavier pairs once it gets colder.

Yup they are great..people question the price but they are well worth it for the lifetime no BS warranty on them.
