agreed.. turning into some bull shit,
auction really!! ugh G&f suck..
already at $5,700
Can't say I disagree. Except let's not blame Game and Fish on this one. They have been opposing these special allocation tags for years but the legislature passes laws making them give them out. They have no control over them.

Yep, everyone likes to throw stones at the government agency like G&F. Little does the public realize how much government funding (federal, state, local) funding that is received for things like public boat ramps to your favorite lake. (Horsehead for example).

What are the laws on who can get an auction tag to sell? What if the local knitting club wants one, along with the hockey club and 4h shooting sports all want an auction tag? You end up with a bunch of extra tags given out to the highest bidder while diluting the value if the are not limited to certain groups. Just curious?

ND's Flatter Half
A single statewide buck tag for auction is absolutely laughable. We have zones with ZERO public rifle tags because the quota is so low there are none left after gratis allocation. Public deer hunting in ND is a freaking joke.

I agree with the above -- make it a lottery ticket like the 50/50 raffle at a sporting event. Everyone has the same chance at winning it and it's not left up to some rich schlub who probably will have to hire a guide anyway.

Yes the local knitting club is eligible to get one of these tags, along with every other organization under the sun that isn't related to the outdoors. Hundreds apply every year and they hold a lottery to see who gets these special tags. Thanks ND legislature.

The entire point of the special allocation license is to help non-profit organizations raise money, the last time I checked 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️

Isnt the point of a fund raiser to make as much money as you can?

Typically more money can be made with a raffle than an auction

I know this is an Elk not a Whitetail but they anticipate on making

$ 100,000.00 if they sell all 1,000 tickets

They could have sold 1,000 tickets at $ 20/ ticket and made $20,000 which I highly doubt the auction will get anywhere near $ 20,000 the whitetail tag.

But to make it a rich mans game is Bullshit !
If a 1000 people buy a raffle ticket at $10 A pop, at least it gives hope to some that doesn't have $6k to flash around

The " non profit " label is pretty loose in ND Hell the " non profit" Matpac youth wrestling made over 3.5 million in gaming last year alone and yet they still charge a monthly fees for kids to attend.
