    Braid on small spinning reels

    I either use mono backing if I have some old stuff available, or tie a knot with the braid and put some electrical tape over the knot.

    Typical Audubon. Did really good some nights, okay other nights. Overall the fish were finicky, watched tons of fish come by on the camera and just look at the various assortments of bait. Bite window seems earlier this year, hottest time seems like its 4:30-4:50.

    Not recommending anyone do this by any means... But I saw a dually pickup pulling an ice castle on the ice in the refuge on Audubon. Lots of vehicles going around on the ice.

    Let's talk drill/composite auger setups...looking for experiences

    I like my K Drill with the M18 Fuel for everything but late ice. I should say though, I've used the Strikemaster 40v and it drills WAY faster and does WAY more holes. The K-Drill beats it in portability though.

    On the radio this morning they said it was an antler-less male moose. Does that mean it is a young moose, or already lost them for the season?

    Ice reports?

    Fished Audubon Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Stayed in the refuge, ice was between 5-7 inches most places. Conditions were deteriorating Sunday though, probably won't be out for a while. Caught a few walleyes each day.

    Partial. Seems like it didn't affect the northerns much, lost quite a few of the big walleyes though.

    Not sure how far you want to travel, but Crooked Lake has got lots of slimers. I saw last week Friday a guy had walked all the way across the lake and set up a portable. Should be plenty of ice now.

    People have been fishing Audubon bays and small lakes in the area since last Wednesday already. After this cold I'd assume there's going to be an abundance of safe walking ice. Just take your time and check conditions often. Probably not the worst idea to wear orange this weekend even while...

    That sounds awful, definitely hoping to not get in any situation like that. I am mainly looking forward to the sitting water outside of sloughs, and the ground, freezing. Sick of sinking in and getting my feet wet when I'm not even in cat-tails or anything.

    Bring on the ice!!!! Fish-able ice on November 8th would be perfect! #$%^&> Ice will also make pheasant hunting a lot easier, with all this standing water.
