    Made the switch

For those that have been using it for a while, how does the service compare? Do you still get decent reception in the middle of nowhere?

    insulated or non insulated?

I usually go back and forth between insulated and non-insulated. Whichever you choose, just make sure they are waterproof. Weather can turn very quickly in the mountains. I've been out there with non-insulated boots in 40 degree temps only to see single digit temps and several inches of snow the...

I've been using the delorme inreach for the last few years and really like it. I've never used the explorer.

    Operating Drones for Profit

Anyone can fly a drones as a hobby, but you are required to attain the certification in order to make any money on the products. The FAA can impose some pretty hefty fines for operating commercially without a license.

    Operating Drones for Profit

I'm not sure what the going rate is, but the picture quality on these new drones is pretty amazing. I'll post some up once I get my drone.

    Operating Drones for Profit

Made my way up to Minot on Friday morning to sit for the exam. 60 questions and 45 minutes later I was done. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but the practice tests definitely helped to prepare. Ended up passing with an 88%.

    Window Well Covers

Good call on the ice build-up guy. I'm going to build something like this. I wonder if there is anyway to prevent snow/ice from building up that and keep it from sealing shut. - - - Updated - - - Any ideas on the best way to attached this type of cover to the metal window wells? Needs to be...

    Window Well Covers

I'm in the same boat as you. I have four of them to cover, and there is no way in hell I'm spending that kind of money to buy the good ones. I'll likely end up building my own out of plexiglass, a few hinges, flat aluminum, and nuts/bolts. I haven't found any good plans to follow yet, but I'm...

It is my understanding that you CAN operate from a moving vehicle if you're not profiting from the flight.

    Operating Drones for Profit

That's one of the reasons I'm getting certified. Anyone can use a drone without certification if you aren't making money, but being able to produce a certificate to ease the concerns of onlookers is well worth it.

    Operating Drones for Profit

I don't think the airmap app is recognized by the FAA, but I could be wrong. In fact, I read something about that earlier but it didn't go into much detail. You don't need a license to fly it as a hobby, but if you intend to make any money you'll need a license. As far as that airport part is...

I think the practice tests will give you a pretty good idea.

    Operating Drones for Profit

What have you been doing to prepare? I've been reading up on the free material provided by Rupprecht's Law. He compiled a lot of the information that the FAA spread out throughout multiple documents and put it into one site. It's still not the easiest way to get all of the information, so I'm...

    Operating Drones for Profit

I know it's not easy! I've been reading the part 107 and taking some practice questions just to see what it's all about. How long ago did you take the exam?

I wouldn't focus too much on the broadhead, as any good fixed blade will work if it's attached to the right arrow. I prefer a good cut on contact head with a heavy arrow behind it. I'd go as heavy as your can with your total arrow weight.

    Operating Drones for Profit

Anyone on here licensed to operate a drone commercially? I need to get certified to take pictures for real estate purposes, and am curious what others did to prepare for the exam? Can you recommend any good resources that will prepare someone for each part of the 60 question exam?

    Venison Brats

I mixed some up a few 50/50 test batches this year and they were way too dry! I've got a bunch of elk leftover that I want to get made up before the season roles around again. Any suggestions? I'm going to make some burger, but would like to try something different.

    New broadheads this year?

I picked up 6 of the 100 grain vented Iron Will broadheads to use this year. If you haven't heard about them yet, definitely read up on them. They are expensive ($99 for 3), but they have a lifetime warranty on bends/breaks and they are manufactured in ND. The business itself is based out of CO...
